Nice to hear John Short on Lowetide today. Great insight into sports in general. Sounds like Alan will have him on now and again. This show has been a breath of fresh air.

Hopefully he does have John Short on once a week or so.

Didnt agree with all his takes but it was wonderful to hear him back on the radio again.

I will also give props to Lowetide as his show has been quite a bit better than I was thinking it would be. He hasnt flooded it with statzis like he did with the weekend show. It is actually listenable.

He explained his take on Katz quite well, when it comes to the arena issue. I can see the newer generation of young fans learning from his insight that isn't over emotional.

Humility on air is an unusual thing.

Much respect to you, giving someone their due when you were pretty harsh otherwise.

I like Alan and his weekend show....I just don't get to listen because of when he is on during the day.

I remember calling John to talk about if Lafleur had anything in the tank when he retired the first time. We agreed there was something left, and he ended up returning to the Nords and Rangers with half decent results.

Best sports radio host this city has ever had.

they had to create new rules

every time they made a new rule-- we as a group found away around it quickly

a poster named Igor was the ringleader of the bunch

Don't you think Tencer's gained a lot of knowledge at the feet of the great master himself: Bryan Hall?

I remember listening to John Short as a kid...he was awesome.
Best is when someone brings up wrestling and he just shuts it down, gives him crap, and cuts off the call. I loved how he hated the WWF!

Agreed. Majeau is actually pretty smart - knows a lot about pretty much every sport there is. Also, him and Struds can be pretty funny.

Him and Struds have a terrific natural chemistry that is hard to replicate. That has to come first before whatever the hosts have to say to set everything off on the right foot and make the show listenable in general. Way better than Meg and Gregor, preferred Alley to Meg actually.

I find that post-mat. leave Meg Storms is far less annoying than pre-mat. leave Meg Morrison was. Although Gregor generously bills Meg as his co-host now, it seems like they have taken the 'less is more' approach with her on-air appearances. She still remains as the TEAM's most engaging/polite call screener btw.

It's the same reason that no one "disagrees" with Gregor when they join him on the air or Brownlee is basically Newton from the old Hercules cartoons, just parroting everything he says.

Mark Spector and Gregor get into some pretty good disagreements sometimes though.

They do, but you can hear the days where Spector thinks to himself "this is going to escalate, probably best to back off" which just makes things boring.

Gregor has a problem trying TOO Hard to be "the NOT homer guy" which makes him come across as dismissive and with the grass is greener attitude to all the players not in the market.

The Cold Hard Truth, with Kevin O'Leary.

I'll tell you this, I will never get a mortgage from O'Leary Mortgages. And just going to the website now, I had no idea this was the guy from the Dragons Den. Horrible segment on the TEAM.

I think he's a pretty crummy person too, overall. Can still be entertaining though.

I don't much like O'Leary's on-air persona (does anybody?) but his radio segments all either teach me something I didn't know or at least give me something to think about. When it comes to radio, I'd take listening to him over super-dull nice guys Russ Dratwa & Brent Bullis any day.
