I know right? He might be useable on my NHL roster within two or three years. I've gotten defensemen like that multiple times (high 60s, 3.5 stars) and they seem to grow quickly.

Started an awesome dynasty with the Lightning. Drafted Jon Drouin 1st overall in 2013, got my first 5 star prospect(!!!!!!) the next year when i drafted goalie Marcus Hedman first overall, grabbed some 4 star right winger from Germany 13th overall in the same year. Got Ho-Sang in the third round.

So right now, going into my 5th season, we have...

Drouin(87)-Stamkos(91)-Kucherov(88)

Ladd(83)-Lecaviler(85)-Stewart(86)

Defence pairings are..

Hedman(88)-Carle(86)
Barbellio(sp)(86)-Bergeron(84)

Hedman(91). He was 45-15 last year with a 2.2 something GAA and a .931 SP with 8 shutouts.

The german guy(Lanistail or something like that) is 78 with 4 yellow stars at 20, and Ho-Sang is 75 with 4 yellows at 20. Hoping they both hit mid 80s to form a good complimentry second line.

He's a 3 1/2 white now at 29 years old, Carolina drafted him 67th in 2014 and it took him awhile to make the NHL, I guess, because he only has about 6 seasons played. He also just completed another 100 point season, lol, 40 goals 105 points.

Panthers Acquire Finnish Forward from Islanders

Jesse Joensuu is now a Florida Panther.

It's been a rough start to the 2013-14 season for the Florida Panthers. They are just two games into the month of February and hold a 5-8-0 record. Currently they are 6 points out of a playoff spot. Despite the offensive impact of Jonathan Huberdeau (17 points in 13 games) and strong production from Tomas Fleischmann (8 pts), Stephen Weiss (12 pts), Nick Bjugstad (10 pts) and Kris Versteeg (11 pts), this Panthers team as a whole is having trouble scoring. Dmitry Kulikov leads the blueline with 6 points and Brian Campbell is second with only 3 assists. Their third line has not scored a goal all season and the fourth line combines for 6 points. The other forward not mentioned, Sean Bergenheim, has put up 5 points on the top line which is respectable but not good enough for a first line. That's why the Panthers decided to go out and make a trade with the New York Islanders.

The Panthers recieved Finnish forward Jesse Joensuu (81 overall) in exchange for Scottie Upshall and goaltender prospect Simon Bergeron (41 ovr, 3 stars). Both Joensuu and Upshall have struggled offensively this year. Through 15 games with the Islanders, Joesnsuu has scored only a goal and an assist, while through 13 games with the Panthers, Upshall has scored zero points.

On Thursday, Joesnuu skated alongside Stephen Weiss and Kris Versteeg on Florida's top line in his Panthers debut against the New York Rangers. Sean Bergenhiem was moved down to the third line in an attempt to spread out scoring. Joensuu scored his first goal as a Panther in the second period of his debut, a 2-1 overtime win. Stephen Weiss scored the game winning goal.

Meet the two newest members of the Florida Panthers organization: defenseman Nick Leddy (left) and

Chicago and Vancouver are gearing up for the playoffs while Florida, with a record of 27-32-2, is selling to prepare for the future. Here are the details:

To Vancouver: D Johnny Oduya (79) [from Florida via Chicago]
To Florida: D Nick Leddy (83, 4 stars), 2014 1st Round pick [from Chicago] and LW Bill Sweat (75, 3 stars) [from Vancouver]

I signed a guy by the name of marcel noebels, a former 4th round pick of the flyers in 2011. He absolutely tore it up in the AHL posting 99 pts in 76gp, but he is absolutely terrible at the NHL level. Playing on a line with Sid or Malkin he has 0pts in 8 games, but in the one game I allowed him to center my 4th line he scored a goal... if only he could play the wing

@DekuScrub I love both of those trades you made. Especially being Florida and needing future players and all. Joennsu could be a top 6 forward during the rebuild and play top 9 later in his career. Sweatt could play 3rd line and be a solid pker in the future. Leddy is obviously your most prized pick up here and he'll be top 4 for sure. Great write-ups and great personnel decisions. Keep it Up!

Thanks! Since we bombed this year, I got a sweet pick up in the draft, too.

But first here's the season recap:

Florida is probably my favourite team to do a dynasty with. Fairly easy to tank and drafting Drouin to play with Huberdeau.

I did that once, had a top line of Droun - Huberdeau - P. Kane. I simmed about 5 years with that line and none of them ever put up less than 90 points, in one year they all broke 100 each.

I guess it's not bad if you're doing a tear down and rebuild, but I personally wouldn't rebuild the Sharks for another 2-3 years.

BLUE JACKETS RIDING 6-GAME WINNING STREAK AT HALFWAY POINT
January 5, 2019

With wins in their past 6 games and injured players such as all-star Cam Atkinson starting to trickle back into the line-up, the Blue Jackets look to put last year's disappointing season behind them by making the playoffs. Even more impressive: through 9 games of their current 10 game road trip, the team is 6-1-2 and have a chance to close out the road trip on a seven game winning streak if they manage to beat the Los Angeles Kings tonight.

The Blue Jackets are currently holding down the 6th seed in the Western Conference and are 4 points up on 9th place Minnesota, although the Wild have a game in hand. The Blue Jackets have 23 home games over the back half of the season which should give them a favourable advantage over some other teams down the stretch.

Scoring has been an issue for the team with only Jonathan Audy-Marchessault on pace for 20 or more goals and, despite leading the team in scoring, he also has the team's worst +/- with a -7 as he's done most of his offensive damage on the power play.

Goaltending has been the saviour of the team with a surprising bounce-back season from backup Steve Mason, who has been absolutely stellar over his 12 starts, posting an 8-3-1 record with a 1.86 goals against average and a scintillating 93.9%% save percentage. Sergei Bobrovsky has also been solid, albeit with a .500 record at 12-12-5.

The Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets have been running neck and neck in the Presidents Trophy race this season with Florida holding a 2-point edge halfway. Meanwhile, Jonathan Toews of the Calgary Flames leads the league in scoring and could potentially bring home his second consecutive Art Ross trophy if he keeps up the pace with 53 points through 43 games (on pace for 101 points).

Panthers Select Aaron Ekblad 3rd Overall
(2014 Offseason Report)

Aaron Ekblad, a big, strong offensive defenseman will
play this season with the Barrie Colts again, but will likely
join the Panthers next season.

2014 Draft Day

Prior to the first round of the NHL entry draft, the Panthers made a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers gave up the 4th overall pick and a 3rd round pick in 2017 to receive the 3rd overall pick from Toronto. With the 3rd overall pick they selected Aaron Ekblad, a defenseman from the Barrie Colts. He was the high-est ranked defenseman in the draft.

Notable Draft Selections:
Selected D Aaron Ekblad 3rd overall (76 overall, 18 years old, 4.5 yellow)
Selected D Blake Orban 20th overall (62 overall, 20 years old, 3.5 yellow)
Selected LW Mathias Janssen 34th overall (59 overall, 18 years old, 3.5 yellow)
Selected RW Scott Teskey 64th overall (49 overall, 19 years old, 3.5 yellow)

Retirements
Ed Jovanovski was the only Panthers player to retire. Filip Kuba also retired, but he finished last season with the Chicago Blackhawks after the Panthers traded him away.

Free Agent Signings

Florida inked back-up goaltender Brian Elliott to a 2-year, $1.5 million contract.

2014-15 Lineup

The Panthers are welcoming six new players into the NHL lineup this year. Rookie forwards Bill Sweatt and Quinten Howden will join Shawn Matthias on the third line up front, while another rookie forward, Drew Shore, will center the fourth line. Rookie defenders Alex Petrovic and Colby Robak will join the Panthers' blue line and veteran goaltender Brian Elliott will serve as backup.

Top Prospects

Aaron Ekblad becomes Florida's newest top prospect, with Dmitri Jaskin, Morgan Klimchuk, and Vincent Trocheck a bit behind him. Ekblad, Josh McFarland, Stephen Midensky, and Joonas Donskoi are the closest to becoming useful impact players in the NHL.

San Jose Still on the Edge
March 3rd, 2013
32-24-5
69 Points
8th in West
The Mercury News

Logan Couture is the leading scorer in the Sharks lineup.

With one day left until trade deadline, the San Jose has some big decisions to make; whether trying to make playoffs, or trying to add a young player in the system. "Obviously we would like to be in a better position", says GM Flamesrule. "But right now we are in 8th place so we'll focus on that right now. The Sharks management has some huge decisions to make, possibly the biggest decision they have yet to make."

While the Sharks are in a playoff spot, they are uncomfortably in a playoff, only being one point out of the playoff. Behind them are the Detroit Red Wings, who have gone 8-2-0 in their past ten games. They last played the Sharks, who won 4-2 against the Wings. Thornton had two goals and one assist to win the game.

Brodeur Now a Shark
March 4, 2013
The Mercury News

Martin Brodeur is now a San Jose Shark.

At 2:10PM, the New Jersey Devils General Manager, Lou Lamoriello, made a trade with the San Jose Sharks General Manager, "Flamesrule". Details started to spur out right after the trade was made. There were some rumors that stated that Ilya Kovalchuck was headed to San Jose, however this was not true. What was true though, is that Martin Brodeur is now a San Jose Shark. Other pieces coming to the Sharks are defenseman Peter Harrold and right-winger Tom Kostopolous. Going to the Devils is goaltender Thomas Greiss, defenseman Scott Acolatse, and a 2013 3rd round draft pick. "We feel that this trade will greatly help the San Jose Sharks with our playoff run. I felt that our goaltending was too shaky, so we felt that Brodeur was the best option. We also gained some depth, so this will help both teams", says GM Flamesrule.

Had the islanders trade Tim Thomas(who was leading the NHL in wins, GAA, SP) to the Blues for 58 overall Jordan Binnington. The Blues then proceeded to send Thomas to the AHL, and he got claimed by the Ducks who stuck him in the AHL until he retired a few months later.

Binnington played 7 games for them that season after the trade and went 0-7 with a 4.65 GAA and a .764 SP

Hoping for Playoffs, Panthers Make Two Big Trades Before Deadline

Above: Struggling forward Bobby Ryan will join the Panthers.

Above: 24-year old two-way defenseman Danny DeKeyser will also join the Panthers.

The Florida Panthers are in a bit of a predicament. They are 4th in the league for goals against per game, with 2.37. However, their goals for per game rating is one of the worst in the league, at 2.33. They have the 2nd best penalty kill, at 87.2%, but have an abysmal powerplay which is clicking at 15.9%. Coach Kevin Dineen has tried many different line combinations and strategies but the team just cannot score. Jonathan Huberdeau leads the team with 49 points in 60 games.

Despite all this, the Panthers hold a record of 28-25-7, 6 points out of a playoff spot. Their management apparently believes that they can still make the playoffs, and they showed it by making two trades in an attempt to increase scoring.

First, right-winger Bobby Ryan (85) was acquired from the Anahiem Ducks in exchange for Dmitry Kulikov (84). Ryan only has 26 points in 60 games, but the Ducks are not a playoff team and Ryan has less-than-stellar linemates in Matt Belesky and Andrew Cogliano. People questioned this trade, because of Ryan's recent struggles and the fact that the Panthers just took a rather large piece out of their top-notch D-core. However, just about three hours later, those worries were put to rest when the Panthers made another trade.

Florida sent two prospects to the non-playoff bound Detroit Red Wings in exchange for 24-year old defenseman Danny DeKeyser (83 overall, 4 stars). The prospects sent to Detroit were D Pierrick Beutler (61, 2.5 stars) and RW Scott Teskey (49, 3.5 stars). DeKeyser will take over Kulikov's spot in the lineup on the Panthers' second defense pairing and will receive top powerplay minutes.

Now the question is, will the Florida Panthers qualify for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs? Stay tuned to find out.
