I could just be Sightless William of Hurt. That sounds pretty close.

That isn't going to cut it with the Pens being out shot by 10 shots/game. This isn't a hard prediction to make.
I'm not fine with how the Pens have played the last two games. My point was simply that not all scoring chances are equal. To add to that, I think the Pens have had more "prime scoring chances" of which any goalie (but especially Nabokov) is significantly less likely to make a save on. And if you'd like that number quantified (albeit in more general terms):

Fleury: 16.3% of all shots against come via PK
Nabokov: 28.8% of all shots against come via PK

From Mississippi Delta blues musician to invalid knight cutdown by a French crossbow at the Battle of Crécy. pretty damn close if you ask me.

Hooray!

Somebody (second person ever) finally recognizes the origins of my stupid user name!

I'd give you a gold star, Crafton. But such things are below royalty.

i always figured your username was a sly conflation of Blind Willie McTell and Mississippi John Hurt, but it never really came up in conversation. in related news, i've always felt that 'Blind Willie McTell' was Bob Dylan's 'best' song. it's mind-boggling that he never saw fit to include it on a REKORD.

I like that this thread has evolved into a country blues discussion. The best kind of O/T.

RRP unleashes the Robert Pete Williams! i absolutely love his guitar playing. it's unique with very unconventional and innovative tunings. it's a great gateway to the world of John Fahey, Robbie Basho and the rest of the practitioners of American Primitivism. he's got a great back-story as well, similar to Leadbelly he was let out of prison on a murder charge, the condition of his probation was that he had to preform.

if this team continues to play terrible embarrassing defense, i think bylsma should go. unless they somehow win the cup playing this way.

It's hilarious listening to some of his live recordings though. He tries to banter with the audience, telling and laughing at his own jokes etc., and they don't have a ****ing clue what he's saying because his accent's so thick.

Still, like you say, a real original and a great listen. I came to that tune from Beefheart's cover.

Can someone tell me why

Despres played only six minutes? I don't understand why he is a scratch or benched....I thought he was a solid top four defenseman who can be trusted.

Am I missing something? It seems Wngelland gets more trust and ice time. I thought deals only error was on the first goal and even then it was partial on Fleury for not covering.

Great tune too! Country blues just seems like pure, free expression.

It's hard for me to listen to a lot of electric urban blues because most of it seems so formulaic. Shoehorned into a rigid, stagnant beat, sanded down and polished up. Blech.

speaking of formulaic, here's a hilarious scene from one of my favorite 80's teen movies. it's always great to hear Albert Collins and Elizabeth Shue is easy on the eyes.

He can't be trusted and those who had the great idea of giving big PO minutes to him because hes "letang jr" were horribly wrong

Hopkins fell in a bit with the then-trendy "folk" blues of the 60s... but he has always, nonetheless, been a favorite of mine. I like quite a bit of the more "brash" styles of blues playing, too... but there will always be a place in my heart for country blues.

Ahem.

As for Despres... he just seemed a little overwhelmed, I thought. I also don't know if the Islanders are a very good team for him to carry a lot of minutes against. He is a likely scratch for the next game but I doubt we've seen the last of him this post season. I hope.

I concur. I didn't see much fault there from him on his 2GA

bring in Dave. he wants to erase the bitter taste of 1993.

what's more, this team is basically Dallas East - Morrow, Jokinen, Niskanen and Neal all played under him.

How about the laying on the ice and interfering with your own goalie part?

What are the chances Shero rips into Bylsma and demands he adjust his tactics?
