At the minute second period just ended and its 2-2 Czech vs. Swiss. Hudler with two goals and Berra with 27 saves.

He only lets in goals against Hudler. Fortunately, Hudler plays for us.

Yet another example of Feaster's genius.

I don't watch many games on European ice, though I understand for goaltenders there are a few different things to the game like angles and whatnot. However, so far through two periods of play I have noticed a few things:

Berra seems quite athletic in that he can really get back swiftly if he's out of position. His flexibility is good even at the goaltending level, very Kiprusoff-like. What isn't quite as good though, is that he relies on the knowledge that he *can* make the reactionary save and therefore I felt that his positioning needs to be improved - thankfully, that's a coachable aspect to his game.

I don't like his passiveness when it comes to challenging the shooter. Not that he doesn't come out to challenge at the top of the crease, it's that he doesn't immediately present the challenge unless there is clearly a shooter which technically puts him 1 step behind the shooter in terms of movement. Also, his definition of "top of the crease" seems to be 6 inches shorter than other goalies' interpretation. I don't know if he is lacking confidence, or this is just a behaviour of his.

Not sure how good his eyes are as there aren't many scrums in front of the net or large amounts of traffic like in the NHL. That probably has a lot to do with the size of the ice surface though.

His stickhandling is average or above-average; it's definitely not a liability and he doesn't panic with the puck even with an opposing forecheck advancing on him.

I've only watched the Czech Republic - Switzerland game so it's not much to go on.

Haha!

Switzerland won 5-2, last one was an empty-netter. Berra with 37 saves. Gotta mention that Switzerland is playing a great tournament. They have defeated the three "big ones" in their division (Canada, Sweden and Czech Republic).

Great game by Berra, perhaps the Swiss fans were right about this guy being a great goalie on a ****** team.

Would be funny if Swiss won gold and Berra got MVP or something. Feaster would look like a genius.

Gerbe looks to be the starter. But it would be sweet for Berra to steal the job and be the best goalie at the tourny.

Reto Berra made 32 saves (96,97%) in the 4:1 win from Switzerland vs. Denmark and was voted best player of the game!

Would be great if he'd get to play in the knockout games but I doubt it... We need a contract hit on Martin Gerber.

Presently, Berra is, with Smith, leading the %svs ranking in the WC's.

Smith being first because he played 5 more minutes than Berra.

95.7% svs

NASTY knee by Edler on Staal. I doubt he wanted to injure but that was pretty bad. Also gets himself ejected as the best D on the team and causes a 5 minute penalty against. Not a good night for him. Or Staal for that matter.

Hamhuis takes a penalty and it leads to a Sweden goal. 1-1.
