Bay Area Limo Fire Kills 5 Women

It seems that no one has a ****ing clue on how this fire started the other night on the San Mateo Bridge as the limo was heading to a party in Foster City.

One of the victims, a bride died in this.

RIP

I imagine during the panic with such a limited area to escape from the women became trapped as flames fanned

I wonder though why the fire spread so quickly any new details on that part of investigation?

My initial thoughts on that is maybe a cleaning solution used has flammable risk or something thus why this fire spread so quickly

RIP to victims and thoughts to families during this horrific tragedy

"no time to escape"

Unless the limo was soaked in gasoline, there was plenty of time to escape the limo. I bet the doors were even unlocked.

Alcohol involved perhaps?

Gotta remember a packed limo (Likely dim lit) and only one area to escape from (Outside of area between driver/passengers)

If fire was in rear of limo it then became a death trap with only a limited area to escape

No idea but I hear that the regulation for how many passengers allowed to be in a limo in CA is 8 and there were 9 inside making it a total of 4 survivors.

Here is some video from one of the survivors and the limo driver.

Sounds like an electrical fire, which spread to the fuel tank, combined with not enough doors

My first thought was that one of them maybe lit up a cigar, then dropped it on an alcohol-soaked floor.

RIP either way.

Yeah, could have involved something like smoking, freebasing, alcohol, even perfumes(alcohol based) as well.

Read this morning that one of the girls tapped on the partition to tell the driver "smoke!" but he took it as them asking if they could smoke, and he just said no. It wasn't until a few moments later they tapped on it again in a panic yelling "smoke smoke smoke!!!" (or something along those lines) that he realized they meant there was a fire in the back. Article is on the main page on Y! if you're interested, don't have a link at the moment.

http://gma.yahoo.com/limo-fire-survi...opstories.html

One of the survivors says the limo driver is liar and didn't help save them

Also all the victims bodies were found in front of limo suggesting they were trying to escape thru drivers area

Makes sense because the flames would have made escape thru doors impossible

Yeah, the cars just driving by bothered me. At least go over and try. If the heat drives you back and you have to save yourself, at least you made an effort.

The only thing that would stop me from doing that, is fear of the car itself exploding... and being caught in the explosion, or being hit by the debris of it.

They were saying on one of the news broadcasts that the doors were self locking, so they might not have been able to open them without the drivers unlocking them.

Not trying to be sexist but I'd bet 9 guys would've escaped the flames. Women panicking and likely wearing weak high heel shoes, they don't stand much of chance smashing a side window in that situation.

C'on....that is a pretty silly comment.

By all accounts the fire spread extremely fast which gave them no time to really do anything.
