John Moore says his recent strong play is all about confidence gained from having an opportunity. Didn't always have it in Columbus.

Moore, PP QB last night for Rangers, said he played a lot of power play before reaching NHL.
Torts is terrible with young players.

Moore has looked great, especially for a defenseman as young as he is.

I do not think we're there yet. I still think we don't move MDZ; yet. If he is still indecisive and stuff, and Moore blossoms well, the door opens a little bit; little. He's been terribly inconsistent lately; at least in my eyes

He has been what most very young top-4 d-men are. He has been very good IMO. A top-4, 35-45 point d-man.

There was a time when he wasn't great with them, surprised it hasn't been brought up with how he has handled Kreider. Actually think he's done a fantastic job with a lot of these guys.

The "Tortorella is ruin young players" is silly tbo, which prospect has he ruin in his time here? I do blame him for many things but he seems to be very good at coaching young players.

Ha has been the coach for five years and we all like to brag about the Rangers young homegrown core. This math is quite simple.

But indeed Moore looks great, clearly a better player than I excepted at first and makes me less sad that Gaborik is gone.

It was when he was in TB for all I know, and he probably didn't ruin them to be honest, they were probably mentally weak and couldn't handle his demeanor. I can see him harming a kids confidence if he's the type of player that was coddled coming up through the ranks. But he certainly is capable of getting the best out of a lot of guys as well.

Not trying to praise him, because he does do things that annoy the hell out of me.

hahaha baby steps, one thing at a time.. we can't be greedy!! As well as hes played eventually someone is going to expandable on our D.. i think we keep them as long as possible.. but if Moore can solidify the PP role i would be willing to open up those can of worms like many wanted dz for ROR and buyout richards.. but only if its straight up.. i might be willing to do it..

Girardi gets a lot of crap but he actually controls the puck pretty well on the back-end. He also has a good, hard, low shot. The problem is that with the lack of movement from everyone else, he rarely is able to see the net through the defender standing right in front of him.
So, there's no point of having Moore on?

Why does someone need to be "expendable"? Why can't we just like having 6 very strong D? Everyone always manages to get hurt at some point anyway so I like having two guys on the bottom pair that can play top 4 if need be. I'd rather not set our roster up so an injury to one of our top 4 d is a death sentence.

I get the salary cap, but we're not at that juncture yet, so who gives a crap.

When the Rangers were mulling trading Marian Gaborik to Columbus this spring, former Blueshirts great and current hockey operations advisor Adam Graves called good friend Steve Spott, the head coach of the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League.

The topic of conversation: John Moore, a 22-year-old Blue Jackets defenseman who had played 61 games for Spott during his 2009-10 junior season in Kitchener.

"I remember on the trade deadline, Adam Graves called me about John," Spott told the Daily News by phone on Tuesday. "Now Adam and I were best men at each other's weddings, so we have that level of trust between us. He wanted to know a lot about John and what he could become. I told him I firmly believe that John has the ability to be not only a great puck-moving defenseman - he has great defensive ability and awareness - but he also has an underrated skill set offensively."
Quote:
"Some guys have the knack of getting pucks to the net, and John has that ability," Spott said. "And with the amount of shot-blocking that goes on in the NHL, the fact that he has that knack is such a huge asset. Pucks seem to find a way to that blue paint, and his feet allow him to get that puck across the blue line and into the middle of the ice."

The Rangers did their homework.

Was a huge fan of getting Moore on the trade but I never thought he would have such an impact so fast.

Gabby for Moore at this point would have been a fair trade, Brass and Dorsett are just extra bonus pieces!

I'm just happy all of our centers came through with clutch goals last night, outside of Richards of course, but he's been invisible all season, he's a major basketcase as this point, just a shame, he's such a mentally and physically fragile man.

On a positive note, like I said our center depth came through last night, Stepan, Brassard, and Boyle all scored by going to the net and shooting. Hopefully, that trend continues next game.

At this point, I just hope Richards being on the ice doesn't lead to a giveaway and a goal aganst, that's all i am hoping for until he's bought out and shipped off. We need to get rid of this loser mentality before it infects other players on the team.

Are you expecting Brad to show up? Or do you agree with me in saying that he's completely done?

Moore is still a project. DZ and McDonagh spoiled us with their immediate impact.

Torts thinks his young D are only as good as their last game. He needs to keep playing them even when they struggle. McDonagh always gets a free pass.

Duties and responsibilities. If a player known them and the coach sticks to them, they'll develop quicker.

I'd like to see a Moore-Mcilrath bottow pairing next season. Don't trade anybody.

Moore is starting to look like a second coming of Ryan McDonagh, a throw-in in the 2009 Scott Gomez trade who has turned out to be a Rangers gem.
