It's late, you need sleep and that may explain your complete lack of reading comprehension. Go nite nite. I hope it'll help but I doubt it.

This lineup is about to be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I thought we had a game breaking player in nets. How is that working for us?

Gionta
Markov
Price
Pleks

and maybe we could include Patches in that list.

Are all paid big bucks. The only one who showed up for the playoffs was Pleks.

It's not one game breaking player that we need. In the off season we need to look at those 5 players and decide if we can win with them. And if we decide we can't well then we need to make some changes. Not all 5 but at least two or three.
Gionta and Markov are no longer in long term plan from Plek Price and Pacio only Plek seems to be a short term ... so I guess he,ll be going soon enough!

If Diaz still holds the value he did at the start of the year, I think I'd be okay with replacing him with Beaulieu next year. He really hasn't done well since his concussion and I think Beaulieu would bring much the same impact on our team in regards to PP and offensive ability. There's potential for us to protect his minutes similar to what we've done with Galcheyuk at forward. This all depends on what type of return Diaz would have. There was a discussion on the Rumours/Proposals page as well as someone just brought it up again about Coburn.

Diaz + Ellis + MTL 3rd

for

Coburn

This is from The Hockey News

Assets: Moves very well for a 6-5, 220-pound defender and owns both shutdown and all-around qualities. Is capable of logging big minutes and playing on either side of the ice. Can rush up ice with the puck.
Flaws: Doesn't use his huge frame enough to his advantage, which limits his effectiveness. Is somewhat timid in the offensive zone, too. Could stand to play more consistently in all facets of the game.
Career Potential: Big-minute defenseman with excellent size and skating ability.

With Markov declining, I believe Coburn could fill in as our potential #2 (#1 on second pairing) defenceman. He hasn't had a good year this year but I'm sure he can turn it around. We need this type of player and we need someone who can play those minutes. Considering Emelin is likely out for the start of the season:

Gorges-Subban
Coburn-Markov
Tinordi-Bouillon
Beaulieu (Protected minutes)

I have a problem with going all in on players like Clowe and Clarkson in this years Free Agency. Their deals could potentially severely handicap the team for the next 6 years. Considering we are a rebuilding team and looking to add to the core that will compete in ~2 years as their production plummets, I am not interested in adding them as apparent saviours in our top-6. Look at what happened with Cole, big contract after 30 for a powerforward who doesn't even have to worry about the effects of fighting... total garbage 2 years in. What I can get behind is adding another player to our roster who brings toughness and grit.

Cal Clutterbuck would be a huge benefit to the amount of toughness on our team. Very similar to Prust and perhaps similar to a forward version of Emelin. He's a type of player that teams look out for when he hits, he's got an okay offensive game and can be relied upon defensively. According to these boards, he'll be asking for too much money and could be available. Any idea what he'd cost?

Two moves, team toughness has a big increase. Unfortunately the team's offence takes a hit.

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gionta
Galchenyuk-Eller-Bourque
Prust-Desharnais-Clutterbuck
Moen-Dumont-XXXX

Gorges-Subban
Coburn-Markov
Tinordi-Bouillon
Beaulieu (Emelin IR)

Prust - Eller - Gallagher
Moen - Halpern Dumont
White

I honestly miss Gallagher every time I post a lineup.... Sorry about that.

Clutterbuck isn't your best option for a 2nd line, not sure how well that would turn out. You also forgot Gionta. These small guys are so easily.... overlooked? Halpern is getting too old, Dumont seems to be very capable on face-offs.

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Bourque
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Clutterbuck-Prust-Gionta
Moen-Dumont-White
(Big ole Goon)

Looks like, according to fans, Clutterbuck would cost a pretty-penny. They also compared him to Wayne Simmonds so.... I think he could be had for picks and prospects or potentially something around Gionta (unlikely) as they really need scoring help. Might be a very difficult trade to pull off.

2013 UFA wishlist

All great points I gotta put Clarkson (big contract) or Torres (short-term contract) and draft Fucale (eventual Price replacement), Rychel or Hartman for some grit.

The team has to get tougher if they want to win in the playoff when all of the pathetic, unprofessional and imbecilic officiating takes place

Gionta was out on purpose way too old !! he his the next to miss the whole season on ltIR !! but if we manage something like :

Pateryn + Gionta vs Clutterbuck + Tyler Cuma ?? maybe pick to add?

I keep Halpern as an extra and to help faceoff aknowledgement for Dumont. We shall keep DD as a PP specialist at least until Galchenyuk will be ready. I know Clutter isn,t a fit for a 2nd line but I balane each of our 3 first line to have a quality player a playmaker and hard bouncer

We need to get BIGGER and need more scoring and defensive depth:

Next season:

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gionta
Bourque - Eller - Clarkson
Clowe - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Prust - Lapierre - White
Moen

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Hainey - Tinordi
Bouillon

Price
Budaj

Trade Desharnais and Diaz and let Ryder walk!

Fristic? And where exactly would he play? We already have a better version of Fristic, he just happens to be injured at the moment.

I think we need Clowe and/or Clarkson, plus trade for a guy like Reaves or Boll, or sign Bordeleau, but, who's Hainey ? Hainsey ?? I hope you're kidding...

Just get bigger and a lot tougher to play against, we're too weak and friendly out there. Defenseman who also push and hit when opposing players come near Price, we must be the only team in the NHL who's defenceman's just give love taps and let's the players go. Enough get guys that won't take that ****

Who is the # 7 D man? What do we do with Beaulieu, Weber, Diaz and Drewiske (assuming Kaberle is bought out)

Jarome Iginla
Brenden Morrow
David Clarkson
Bryan Bickell
Viktor Stalberg
Nathan Horton (I hate him but he brings it in the play-offs).
Ryan Clowe
Raffi Torres (would take for free not trade)
Matt Hendricks

Douglas Murray
Mark Fistric
Robyn Regehr
Rob Scuderi

Are names we should look at in the off-season.

Neil wouldn't even fight Prust, do you think he'd fight somebody 3 inches taller and 25lbs heavier?

Is it only me that sees this **** or do others see this as well? I'm just ****ing fed up of being a pee wee team out there, guys who don't want to compete and play hard GTFO

Couple of UFA would help but I know you're a draft junkie WTK and even that we need to start drafting bigger sized forwards

I agree with most of what you're saying...but getting rid of all our small players and replacing them with big bangers/scrappers is not the be all and end all.

Obviously getting Eller and Emelin back will help. I would like a big stay at home d-man and to leave Tinordi AHL(at least to start the year), the only problem you don't want to commit 4-5 years on what's on the UFA market. Murray would be ok 2-3 years ago or Regehr from 4-5 yeras ago. Not sure if Fistric can handle any more than #5-6 minutes.

You can replace Armstrong with Torres or somebody similar plus get a heavyweight enforcer. Guys like Prust Bourque White Emelin Moen would play "meaner" with one against about 1/2 the teams. Usually those guys sit in the playoffs.

I agree with you but not sure where you see a team not cometing hard. The Habs outplayed Ottawa by a fair margin for 3 games and the 4th game was pretty even except for the 3rd period.

The compete has been there. Ottawa is playing the Jacques Martin rope a dope 2010 style.
