I imagine he'll receive a trophy and a round of applause. I could be wrong, he may also receive a cash reward and possibly a handshake.

in terms of stats and stuff yeah and i honestly think he deserves to win it but there's a decent chance he won't cause Columbus isn't in the playoffs. sounds stupid i know especially considering bob has significantly better numbers then Niemi and Lundqvist. it also depends on how well those two (and their teams) perform in the playoffs

Does a goalie that missed the playoffs usually win the vezina ? Any specific examples cause I think that hurts his chances.

I think we'd have to check and see what other players have won similar awards on non PO teams.

Oh hey, look at that. I have some paint drying. Somebody better watch it. Looks like I won't have time to research this!

Edit: I did it anyways. Going back to Hasek it looks like every winner made the POs.

the real shame for Bob is that they basicly did make it, except for Detroit bumping them on the closing night of reg. season.

ohwell i hope he still does win it, cuz Bob had a tremendous year, irregardless of what his team did or didnt do.

Still think it should be its own thread. Then we can have a Bob remembrance thread

Especially when CBJ told Bobrovsky to ignore everything that Jeff Reese told him to do. good thing we got Bryzgalov and Mason who Snider believes is a elite goalie after a 6 game trial. what a joke.

No, he's an RFA. I liked SB when the Flyers signed him and thought that he showed improvement while he was here. The standard line for why he was dealt was that his cap hit was too much for a backup ($1,750,000) and that may be true. However, I just wonder if the Flyers knew that he wouldn't mix with Bryz so rather than have an asset rot on the shelf while at the same time experiencing a hassle between the goalies, Holmgren made the move. I am definitely concerned that next season, if Bryz is around, that he and Mason clash; especially if Mason continues to show the skill level that he did at the end of the season.

Which is why Bryz should be gone. I have a feeling he affects a lot of his team mates that way.

I remember that time where it was abundantly clear he had more than enough physical talent and just needed development, before he'd be a number 1. That time was...well, pretty much his whole stint.

They already have egg on their face. They don't need Bob to win it for that to happen.

But a Bob win would be like an extra pie in the face.

And a Bryz buyout would be like a swarm of african bees to the face

Not questioning that! I didn't want to trade him either Beefy. I'm just saying, we don't have a whole lot to remember of Bob's success here.

There is a lot to remember. He showed the most promise of any goalie we have had in quite some time. We basically gave him up and moved on for little, and traded away a goaltender who clearly is a better option then both Bryz and Mason. Do you think CBJ would prefer Mason to Bob?

We all have to remember(and I am not trying to justify the Bob trade) is that nobody knew there would be a amnesty clause in the new CBA. Also Bob came to Homer at the end of year meetings and asked for a better opportunity if he won't get it in Philly.

Also I want to see Bob in a full season down in Columbus.

As a fan base, I have learned we dwell on the past for way too long. I understand in doing so, but eventually we have to move on. There literally is nothing you can do. Instead of trashing the team we love, hope management gets a new look(Hextall) and goes in a different direction in building a contending team.
