I'd like to see Tampa Bay pick the both of them up somehow. I think that would be a dangerous team.

who cares whether it was a blown penalty? that was a weak goal by schneider. PK aside, he should have stopped it.

You know Gillis would ask for Hedman.

Of course he would... He's trading 2 talented first-line offensive players. You can't give nothing to get them. They might succeed more in a different system with a different coach.

In a shocking move the Pens announce that Vokoun will start game 5.

Until the Pens revamp that defense and get a legit number one goaltender that isn't their guy via name, they will not be Cup contender.

I think their defense is fine. It's Fleury giving up these horrific goals that has caused issues the last few years. I bet they roll now that Vokoun has taken over.

Fleury has won a Cup. I think it's partly the guys they have now but more on Fleury just having lost confidence, he has the talent to win, obviously his name is on the Cup.

Confidence in athletes comes and goes, and we have seen it in every sport. From baseball players to not being able to make simple throws, to basketball players suddenly dropping 30% on their FT shooting to goalies just falling of the face of the earth.

It's tough to get and easy to lose and once you lose it, it might never come back.

I don't like that they play Vokoun. Watching Fleury playing that bad was fun

They won the Cup inspite of Fleury that year, not because of him.

Their D is absolutely brutal and is in no way fine.

Vokoun might be a bit steadier, but if they give up odd man rushes six times a period they could have prime Hasek in net and it wouldn't matter.

Ya I don't see much changing with Vokoun in net. They will still have high scoring games, just won't be goals from behind the net as often.

Fleury was really good in the finals that year, aside from 1 game.

I'm exited to see what TV will do. Their D is brutal but he is a great goalie, you never know, he might play out of his mind.

Thats 3 terrible games, 4 good ones. He was .908 for the playoffs.

If he had 3 terrible games..then he had 4 flat out amazing games.

Without those 4 games, the Pens don't win the cup. So they didn't win in spite of Fleury, they won because he helped them win.
And I remember him making great save with like 7secs left in the game to clinch it.

Just like Niemi when we won the cup. We didn't win in spite of him, he helped us win.

There is plenty to attack MAF with outside of his Cup win. Yes, he is inconsistent, very inconsistent. However, the bigger problem with him is that most playoffs, he is not good.

Also, in the final seconds of Game 7, he won that for them.

Vokoun makes them a better team simply put. Not necessarily going to beat the now but Vokoun realistically cannot be statistically worse than Fleury (most likely)

They beat Washington and Fleury only had one game where he had over a .905 save%. That is winning in spite of someone.

It boggles the mind that the Pens were the second best team in the NHL this year...even with how bad defense in the east is.
