Thank you Mr.Gionta and the best of luck, whatever happens in the future.

This team is so beaten up, it's not even funny.

Tomorrow nite, we gonna have an AHL caliber team on the ice. Good luck !

For all we know, Pyretta could have been facepalming at the fact Therrien brought it up.

Prust, White, Price, Eller, Gionta are all injured + Pacioretty is playing injured... FFS, it almost seems that we are on the verge of game 7 of stanley cups but we are only 4 games in and we have major injuries...

Part of me don't want us to make it to round 2... We're gonna be destroyed.

According to many posters here, size doesn't matter, and we got enough size and grit to play Playoffs hockey...

When I watch the St-Louis vs LA series, Or Bos vs TO, or the Ottawa team, I think we are far from that.

As much as I hate on Gionta for his play and contract, I don't doubt that it absolutely sucks for him and he's devastated. Professionals want to play man, his career's in real jeopardy and his team is on the brink of elimination.

Nothing wrong with him crying, a lot wrong with his performance all year.

It likely wasn't nearly as dramatic as many of you are imagining.

Just wondering hypothetically, Budaj starts tomorrow and wins and Price is available Saturday who plays? Better yet if Budaj wins game 6 also do you start a "fresh" Carey Price game 7?

Pretty dramatic in my opinion

I couldn't help but laugh when I visualized it, but I don't really have any problem with it. Good for Therrien for having won his players' trust when it comes to confiding in him, and good for Gionta for caring enough about his career and/or team.

Unfortunately, Gionta's best years are past him (as a player, it's often something that's very tough to cope with and accept), and I hope the organization realizes he's no longer a top-six forward at this point in his career. I do hope he can recover from this injury and come back healthy, as he can probably still be a serviceable 3rd line player next season (I'll be OK with that as long as he gets no PP time). However, to be honest, I think he's an easily replaceable player (and at a much more cap-friendly rate) in the event that he can't fully recover from this.

Being injured is ****. I've learned it this past month lol. I sympathize with the captain.

That said, why would you say that Therrien. Why?!

This is the same fan base that has Senatron. I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Alright, he likely cried and Therrien gave him a hug - hence the "crying in my arms" comment.

Geeze, it's as if people are imaging Gionta laying down in the fetal position, bawling his eyes out, yelling NOOOOO!! WHYYYYY? while Therrien comes over, picks him up, holds him in his arms and tells him it will be alright.

Calm down folks. He cried, he was emotional. Big deal. I feel bad for the guy, and hope he continues his career...with another team, but that's another matter and opinion..

Again, the ONLY issue I have here, is Therrien bringing it up to the media. If many of our own fans are having a field day with this, imagine others?

Bring in hamilton.

These guys are gunning to make the nhl and sign big contracts. NHL playoffs magnify them. Lets hope they play their lives out.

Maybe Therrien was wearing pink, on pink, again.... and it blinded the Captain?

I bet he'll come back stronger. Either way, Gionta is a warrior. No one wants to leave the team when they're down 3-1. It's just not fair.

I have nothing against crying.. I probably cry more than anyone else on this board.

The facepalm was directed at Therrien. I don't think Gionta wants the whole world to know that he cried in his coach's arms.

Now we get **** like this:
