luongo

okay, i've been a hater and am still upset with him, but at the same time i now am feeling slightly sorry for him. he played 2 good games in the playoffs and still got pulled for the third game, then schneider stunk it up and luongo came in and played well, then they start schneider in the 4th????? if by any chance the nucks buy him out i wouldn't be opposed to giving him a 2-3 year contract with the cats. i wouldn't touch his current contract! buy out probably won't happen though.

If I was Tampa, I'd go after him. He'd make them way better. It would bring him back to Florida (the state) which he wants. They keep going after keepers that 'hopefully' work out when all they need to do is go out and get 'the guy'. Fitting under budget of course.

As a Panthers fan, hopefully they don't ever wise up.

I really hope Vancouver buys him out and the Panthers are able to sign him to a manageable contract.

Not going to get my hopes up, though.

Someone explain something to me:

Luongo has openly admitted that his contract is jacked up. Why can't a player "cancel" or "void" his own contract? Say, "Okay, I'm done, let's resign at something decent".

Could he retire and come back?

I don't know how this stuff works.

^^^ I think he can terminate his contract sort of like what Matt Bradley did. I'm not sure how the rules of termination in the NHL work, though.

It's against CBA rules.

It would be a way to circumvent the gap. Any team falling for this will get punish and his old contract would probably be into effect.

VAN loves handing out long contracts. Garrison, (traded for a semi-long deal in Booth, Ballard, etc.) tired of the Luongo threads honestly. I just see no way on Earth FLA lands him with that contract, or why they would even want to.

If he gets bought out I will laugh. It goes from Bjugstad to bought out. I think he will get traded though, and not to Florida. Gillis knows now he has to lower his asking price. No one is going to give him close to fair value, he just has to accept that. I hope he doesnt go to Tampa, but I dont think he will. They gave up a lot to acquire Bishop and Lindback.

From the main boards...

Luongo - Edler - 3rd round pick

for

Campbell - #31 pick.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that's a deal Tallon considers.

Clemmensen should not be on the roster next year if we are serious about competing for a playoff spot.

I'm worried that Theo's wheels may be coming off.

Luongo makes $6.7M for 5 more years
Edler makes 3.2 - 4.2 - 6 - 6 - 6 - 4.5

Campbell makes $7.1M for 3 more years

Soupy would have to approve the deal, would be surprised if he waived.

hmmm tricky... Personally, I'd decline for 1 sole reason and that is the contract of luo. Gillis have tried now for two years to trade him, and yes there have been suitors but Gillis demands have been too high.
I hope for luongos sake he gets bought out this summer, and it doesn't feel too unlikely he will be.. then we could keep our assets and add luongo for free

Only chance is if he gets bought out because his contract is outrageous. Markstrom needs some steady team defense so he can establish himself.

I'd rather try to get a guy to be a real replacement for Garrison. Not another Kuba. Our funds are so limited, we need to use them wisely.

Without contracts, that's a good deal for us. With contracts, its not something we could ever afford.

I doubt Campbell waives to move his family across North America. I'm pretty sure he likes it down here and without reading into it too much, he seems to enjoy the banter with all the young guys on twitter.

I am sick of these threads too. We've covered everything that needs to be covered.

I'd rather try to get Ryan Kesler but I doubt he's available unless they commit to a full rebuild. He's signed through 2015-2016 season at 5mill a year. And I would give up Bjugstad to get him.

I think unless Vancouver buys out a big chunk of his contract, they're going to have a really hard time getting rid of him. I would severely doubt that Tallon would make a bid for him unless it really benefit us. Markstrom seems to be gaining more faith in us as time goes on and with Luongo signed for another nine years, I see less use for him here.

bottom line is luongo holds all the chips. he has a no movement contract so he has to approve a trade. i believe that the way he's been treated he wont waive for most teams. he'll hold out for what he wants and possibly force the nucks to buy him out.

Campbell came here because he wanted to be here and be part of turning things around. I don't think DT rewards him by shipping him off - at least I hope not.

Vancouver will more than likely amnesty Ballard and Booth, Luongo traded for peanuts when Gillis finally comes to his senses.

Nope, you'll need permission from the player to place him on waivers if he has a NMC.

From what I could find, Luongo has a no-trade clause, not a no-movement clause.
