Add Bonk to the positives for me, looked very good to me. I'd agree with most of those too, and I'd say Komisarek looked good and Locke looked better than I expected. Souray and Rivet were invisible, Benoit made a lot of bad decisions with the puck, but I think all in all the positives do outweigh the negatives in this one... but losing... yeah... not fun.

Johnson is playing great so far. Do any of you think he has a future in Montreal or is he just a 1 season rental?

Lats is hitting everyone in sight and Kosty is showing great skill, would love if both made the team.

Bonk looks fast, Johnson looks overall great, Price is impressive but since he's too strong for the NHL, will be send down...

Liked Kosty and Lats, liked the first line really impressive and that's it for me.

The rest looks bad, Huet, the D's, 2nd line is atrocious.....

The transition game is plain stupid, you can't go forward when all the D's favorite pass is to the boards.....A guy like Samsonov may need more room to speed things up, might need a great first pass from the D to get things going, and unfortunately if Markov is not on the ice, well he will have some trouble there.

Dont clump Souray in with Rivet. Poor Souray has to continually cover for Craig's mistakes. Just like last year. Just like when Rivet turned it over to Ottaawa last year and Souray was left with Spezza.

Unbelievable that this guy can not clear the zone. O nthe 4th goal he had like 12 chances to get it out. He continues to bank it off the boards directly to the opposing d man. He did this countless times last year. He is a strong guy who has very poor skill with the stick ezpecially when he panics in front of out net. I sont blame him for the ot goal in the playoffs but still a stupid, stupid thing to do. He was by far the worst player tonight. He mad Benoit and the O'B look like Norris candidates.

I am tired of him dumping the puck into the opposition zone when we have a 3 on 2 rush developing. Pathetic.

Awards:
Positive: Ryder, Bonk, Kostitsyn, Streit, Latendresse, Johnson

Negative: Kovalev, Samsonov, just about everything else

I'm still not going to place the blame on our goaltending yet. Our D has just been so bad I'd expect anybody to let in 4+ goals a game playing behind them. And I'm still convinced that Kovalev and Samsonov are only going to start showing up in the regular season. Well, I hope.

Other then Rivet there are alot of positives to take out of this one.

Price, Bonk, Streit, Ryder even Latendresse.

Kostisyn looks scared of something out there.

I thought the whole Koivu line had a great game, all 3 of them, so that's a positive. I also liked the limited things we got to see of Chipchura. He needs more seasoning but he's probably the smartest youngster we have. He never takes a bad decision. He's just solid even though unspectacular.

Latendresse was great at times, but careless at others (especially in his own zone).

Bonk is still looking very solid. Looks like he's pumped for a rebound season.

Johnson is really good. this is quite the upgrade over Zednik I must say.

Kostitsyn is still lacking something. He doesn't find ways to get to open ice like Ryder does to exploit his great shot.

Streit was great offensively tonight, the rest of the D was bad, including Komisarek IMO.

The most troublesome is Kovalev's and Samsonov's play. Those 2 look like they're playing pond hockey.

Price still looked good, Huet still looked bad, time for Carbo to play both Aebischer and Huet for full games. Enough with that half and half crap.

Overall I see this game as a positive. It was our best one so far and even though we weren't consistant, at least there was some jump and cohesion, up front at least.

Most improved over last year is Bonk, by a wide margin.

Johnson looks really good.

Streit was good too.

Koivu can control the play still, very good to see.

I'm not concerned at all about the outcomes thus far... though Huet's shaky play might become a concern if it continues.

In my mind, Montreal has 17 NHL-ready forwards (outside of the obvious 10, I'm including Garth Murray, Perezhogin, Latendresse, Lapierre, Ferland, Kostitsyn, Downey). Usually that's a good thing. With Koivu and Samsonov being as brittle as they are, perhaps it still is (and Begin should be injured a bit too).

The problem is that I do think it could work against a prospect to have them in a league like the Q or AHL when they're clearly ready for the big league. In my mind, Perezhogin, Murray, Latendresse and Kostitsyn belong in the NHL right now. And there's not room for all four of them.

Tough problem for the management right now.

Alot of positifs in my opinion. Lots of scoring chanches in tonights game. In fact we probably got more scoring chances in tonights game than the first 3 games. Latendresse did the simple things. dident try to do to much and was effective doing that. Are speed was also superior tonight. I like what I saw from streit and benoit. if you give them power play time they can be effective in that role.

Rivet has to go. I dont care if he is a good leader. Add him to the coaching staff if he leads so well. Koivu's buddy or not the reprecussions of having him on the ice will be massive this year.

We clearly iced a better team than toronto tonight and still couldn't get the job done. That's the biggest negative of all.

Confidence is down. The guys must find a way to get it back before game 1 of the reg season which will be a tough one against Buffalo on the road.

Same here , he had good speed and was always making the good play. I would try him with Sammy and Kovy if Carbo is still pissed off at Ribeiro.

The most upsetting thing about thsi game was we dominated in the 3rd period. THe Leafs have one really good shift and score on it. ALthough they bascially had a 6 on 4 cause RIvet kept passing it around with them. Why cant he give our players sweet pne timer passes like he was givin gthe Leafs on that shift.

Anyways we dominate and they get one chance and score and we lose the game by one. Sounds awfully familiar from last year does it not?
