MacTruck trucked with over 31 minutes today. Played great. Covered OviChicken all day long.
Danny G bouncing back from his regular season troubles.
Clowe made a good return to the lineup and brought good physicality and such.
BrassGod with godly passes and awesome play all around.
Good win. Happy to have been there. Now win game 5 in Washington.

Truly, I am not being antagonistic, just interested in this kind of thing. I have only a few bones to pick with Torts (his rudeness answering questions that other top coaches have no problem stickhandling around, and the way they back off pressuring the point).

I only question this because I see no advantage to bringing two guys back from the point, and positioning them just above the circles. I wonder what other Rangers fans might think about this. Maybe a different view based on experience?
It doesn't make me feel comfortable watching it, but it's working. It's like a lot say on here. It's a six goalie system. McGuire brought it out perfectly, too. They focus on the major shooters. Let the playmakers try and score. Backstrom couldn't do anything, neither could Ribero. Ovechkin? Green? Nothing. If it wasn't for a few fortunate bounces and deflections, Hank probably would've only given up two-three goals in the last two games.

The past couple of games, the team has gotten caught in the zone like it was a power play for the Caps. I'm all for them sitting back if that means that Caps can't shoot puck. They can't shoot, they can't score. Jam six players in the slot, there's no where to shoot but wide.

Brassard is just playing great. Hagelin had a big night as well. Richards best game so far. If he and Nash ever get going we'll win this series.
MDZ was a lot better once Eminger was benched. I don't think it is a coincidence. Eminger just had a really, really bad game tonight.

I was removed from the main board also. Not complaining, just saying.

I think Brassard's on-ice vision is better, and his skill level is higher, as well as his compete level.

Really think this was the first game of the playoffs, and even maybe the first game since the Pittsburgh blowout game when Henrik didn't win the game for the Rangers. Rangers forwards did a pretty good job tonight and Hootby kept the Caps in striking range.

Would love to see Hank pickup a shutout in game 5!

That's kind of what happens in the PO's, luckily the last few games our depth guys have been coming up bigger than theirs.

Yeah I figured this would be a guy who could come in a chip in points, but I wasn't expecting him to come in and throw the body and backcheck like an angry demon bat.

The really interesting thing is how little impact Ovechkin had tonight.

It was easy to see how frustrated he was last game. After he got rattled by what he thought was a goal, he seemed to not get it out of his mind. Tonight, the way he charged Stepan(was it Stepan?) showed how pissed off he is.
Some players get better when they get angry. Some players become a shadow of themselves. I hope Ovie is a shadow, but yeah, it's too early yet to say.

Game 5 is a whole new game. I subscribe to Tortorella's theory that momentum does not carry from game to game, it exists within each game only.

One thing that really scared me was when we took the 4-2 lead and washington started to turn it into a 5 on 5 Powerplay. A bit after the 4-3 goal this team started to press the issue I thought and that helped ease my mind (still need access to a cardiologist)

Onto game 5...lets steal that one on the road!

I see similarities in their games, and frankly, they kind of look similar too.

Brassard keeps his head up. Like Zucc, he is better with time and space. I don't think he'll be a PPG guy, but its not unreasonable to think that we may have landed a 50 point pivot under the right circumstances. Those are a nice thing to have. Currently we have three of them.

Those minutes scare me considering Games 6 & 7 are back to backs

Yet another heart attack. May need to invest in a defibrillator.

Great efforts from Hagelin, Brassard, Stepan, Stralman. McD, Girardi, Moore as well.*

Flat out great for about 35 min. If Hank gets "game 2" hot they've got a real shot.

But the PP and lack of Nash are real issues.*

I thought about that a bit too, especially the part about them getting caught in their own zone for an extended period.
Probably, the idea is that if you have enough bodies and legs and sticks in the prime scoring areas, you mathematically increase your chance of screwing up the oppositions play.

That strategy still strikes me as suspect, for the very reason that the Rangers award guys like Green with a luxury he should not have. When the Rangers try to throw the puck out of the zone on the boards, where are the Rangers to make it hard for the opposition pointman to stop it, regain composure and set it up? Rangers are conceding it, and that is not good.

So I stepped in dog **** before the game and lost one of my shoes. Then we won. So one shoe might become a regular thing now during games.
