the pens need to start trying to acquire some young forwards, 3 forwards out of the top 6 forwards are all 33 and above
I havn't been to fond of iginla as well (personally I wouldn't give him 5 mill a year)

I don't know . . . I think Fleury could get you a Taylor Hall fathead.

since we're off to Cloud Cuckoo Land, let me punch my ticket.

Letang + Orpik for Ryan + Beauchemin

dumb and dumber for goal-scoring and defensive responsibility

**** . . . sign me up.

Honestly, you keep Sid for obvious reasons. You keep Geno, unless you've got no choice, because you won't come close to getting value. Anyone else is fair game. Letang. Martin. Orpik. ****, Neal and Kunitz too. Not saying I give those guys away, but I think any of them should be able to be had if the price is right.

I think a change in goaltending, a new coaching staff and going with some younger legs in place of Adams, Eaton and Cooke is all this team needs. I'm not in favor of totally blowing things up and trading Malkin or even just Letang.

actually i'm getting convinced by my own bull-****:

Letang + Orpik for Ryan + Beauchemin

1. not quite cap-neutral but fairly manageable: 3.5M/1Y, then ~6.5M + 3.75M for 5.1M/2Y, then ~6M + 3.5M

2. Bruce would drop his BBQ for Letang. Letang and Fowler on different pairings gives them premium offense from the back-end for most of the game. Letang, Folwer, Sbisa, Orpik, Souray, Allen, Vatanen in a nice group to play around with.

3. Crosby finally gets his Neal. Malkin gets his Kunitz. Pittsburgh moves to a more defensively responsible style of play. Beauchemin anchors one pairing with Despres and Martin anchors the other. the Pittsburgh core gets their act together when they realize someone of Letang's statute can be traded.

It is pretty simple. Hire a quality coach. Play to teams strengths. Unload if one can weak or under performing defensemen. Martin and Orpik gone. The old ham and eggers like Adams, Glass are gone with Dan. Morrow is to slow and with the speed of the playoffs, his skating is suspect. Iginla is lost at LW and has to show on RW with Sid or what do we really know to attempt to sign him to a longer term deal. In short being all in is fine if you can as an organization execute accordingly. Right now MAF is breaking down in clutch situations and this team has to provide more help.

Bernier (RFA offer sheet, doubt LA would match 4-5M for a backup)

Tippet and his own crew (plus a new goalie only coach plz). Tip's contract is up, crossing fingers he will not stay. I think he would be Shero's number 1 target, he would do great with this D and goaltending if we had Bernier+Vokoun, then you got the offense after....i'd wanna keep Orpik if this was the case.

call up some WBS guys for the 4th line for the energy line. Cap going down, i'm fine with less depth for a few years.

Letang is signed as well so are both goalies. It's going to be interesting to see what Shero does especially if we choke again

Halak is always injured and besides that great run he was on in 2010 has been outplayed by Elliot and Allen in St Louis

What? He's been injured, not outplayed, imo.

Last year he wasn't injured but outplayed. This year he has been hurt but even when healthy Hitchcock preferred to start the rookie Allen over both goalies. I have him in a keeper pool and been frustrated for 2 years now. Finally was able to trade him

Stewart yes Halak I still think that 2010 was all fluke

Dumoulin and Pouliot, how are they doing in the Minos/Chl? Could Pouliot be the next Karlsson?

Pouliot is way closer to Bobby Orr than Karlsson, IMO.

That's right cause no one is as close as Karlsson.

Karlsson > Orr

If everything goes well you can watch Pouliot in the Memorial Cup in 2 weeks, his team is up 3-1 in the series against the Oil King

Dumoulin I haven't seen much of but I know the Baby Pens are doing pretty well

I'm really, really excited about Harrington. He's very high up on my list of favorites as far as our prospects go.

He looked great in both World Juniors and in the Memorial Cup last year. Definitely high on him as well. And he is that quiet type which is a great thing as a D. Great late 2nd round pick by our scouting department

Hoping, and this is a stretch, that Harrington can become a Duncan Keith type of guy.

I'd say a meaner Scuderi slightly with better offense.
