Buchholz's ERA last year was 4.56 and IIRC he had some health issues derail his season. Either way it wasn't over 9 and his career ERA sits at a 3.80. He's also had a near no-hitter this season.
I'm not a sabremetrics expert by any means, but I've always liked looking at WHIP more than ERA. Anyway, I don't think this improvement is unreasonable, especially with this being just a 6 game sample size. Buchholz has always been talented, this could very well be the season he's just put everything together.

I was kind of confused while it was going on, but now having had a week to reflect on the Jaguars draft, I have to say I like it quite a bit.

Monroe//Nwaneri//Meester//Rackley//Joeckel is by far the best Offensive Line in the division.

Gratz is an upgrade at Corner and Cyprien and Evans will make both our Safety spots a lot better. They remind me of Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor in Seattle, one hits like a tank and is essentially a fourth Line Backer and the other is a speedy ball hawk.

Add to that the flexibility and creativeness our offense and special teams can now have with Denard and Ace Sanders and the fact we got both Jordan Rodgers and Matt Scott (who was projected to be a high 3rd round pick) for free as undrafted FA's and I think this team is definitely on the up and up.

Exactly and the Red Sox on the whole are better this year than last season. It goes to reason that part of being better is better defense which would, in turn, reduce a pitcher's ERA.

The Red Sox this year are one of the reasons why I still think advanced stats are a good way to build a team long term, and as long as you can get the pitching in place I would say it's the only way to build a winning team at less then true market value.

Victorino isn't THAT much different then his career average in OBP. Mike Napoli the same.

Clay Buckholz's ERA is ridiculous, but his WHIP is much closer to career mean, and according to advanced stats he was underperforming his WHIP the past few years.

I'm Facebook friends with the wife of Buchholz. Does that give me enough credit to join this conversation?

I'm not a Sabre-anything expert by any means. Nor do I want to be.

I don't really care for the big bang theory, but that particular joke was great, and so is Will Wheaton.

Also, Wesley Rusher.

I figured they would. They were the only good team on the whole show this season. Overall worst collection of teams I can recall and I've seen every season since the show debuted.

So I was taking the daily quiz on ESPN... This is the second time I've seen this issue.

No idea who they think Greg even is...

This is weird seeing Bates Battaglia getting all of this overnight fame. He's now the second Google search on autocomplete when you type in "Bates," after only the motel.

Read an interview with the brothers (here: http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/05/...-race-was.html), bizarre how many times they refer to themselves as good looking...

I haven't been on the Canes facebook page in quite a while. After seeing some of the comments on here about the stupidity of some of the comments, I got curious. All I can say is WOW
