Last night was Nash's worst game of the series. He was pretty bad out there.

He needs to step it up in a big way through the weekend.

He hurt his leg in game 3, looked like it didn't go away 48 hours later.

Just under 17 minutes played last night, isn't that low for him?

Yeah.

He really does look pretty banged up. He's laboring out there.

At least thats what I "hope" is up with him.

I actually didn't think he was all that bad last night. He might be a bit banged up, but he's also got tight coverage on him. He seems to be trying to do a bit too much when he gets the puck. Last night he passed up on 2 open shots to try to make a move and fake people out. It might just be the playoff jitters seeing as he hasn't been here in awhile, but I think we'll start seeing Nashty make an impact.

I was worried about Nash coming into the playoffs. Too often he toe dragged around players and scored highlight reel goals. That may work against Philly and Florida, not solid playoff teams (even ones like the Caps who aren't world beaters defensively).

He just doesn't have the push off with his legs. Something is up.

He has to shoot the puck better. He had a good opportunity to put in a one timer in game one and his shot wasn't good enough. He skated through the defense in game 2 and finished the move with a weak backhand that Holtby was all over. Then he hit the post on his best opportunity of the series. He's got to put one in.

He's doing the same moves he would do in the regular season, which even then rarely works, and when it does it's against teams like Tampa/Philly.

Yeah, I don't buy the excuse that he's hurt. Just about every regular on both teams is playing with SOME kind of pain/injury this time of year.

It's time for Nash to join the party...or the party may not last very long.

What time to join the party?? He setup(he made the whole play happen with a hit on Backstrom) the GWG in game 3, how come that seems to be missing in all this?

I understand why many are worried and dissappointed but I don't think this will be an issue and I think he looks really slow so I'm hopin he's gutting out an injury. From what I've seen tis year he busts his *** and he tries every shift

I'm not that disappointed in Nash's play. Don't get me wrong, seeing some goals from him would be the Capitals' death knell, but I've been seeing 2-3 Cap defenders on him. There was one play where 3 converged on him, he waited for someone to get into the offensive zone but he spun around and released a nice shot.

If he can't produce but can make the Caps keep doing that to him, I'll take it.

One nice play surrounded by lots of invisibility in four games may be enough for you out of your superstar, but not for me. Not in the playoffs where we are teetering on elimination.

Ugh, one nice play? He won that game on that shift, stepped up when it mattered. Did Ovi? Did anyone else? Stepan scored it, and it was produced by Nash.

You make it sound like he was Richards out there. He is obviously hurting, not every injury is the same, yet I thought his play didn't hurt the team, he was still garnering the Caps top defensive duo and that allowed the other lines to come through with some offense. That's what you want when the stars are being held off the board.

I'd so rather be a Ranger fan dealing with Nash's game last night than a Caps fan dealing with Ovi's last two

I agree with your last statement, but that's a straw man argument. While his last two games have been weak, you don't want to be comparing Ovechkin's career to Nash's.

I was just hoping for a lot more from Nash than 'his play didn't hurt the team'.

Nash still has time to convert me.

Maybe Nash's knee is a bit banged up. I think an even bigger problem is that hes fallen into some bad habits during his 10 years in Columbus. Habits that wont easily be altered in one lockout shortened season.

I'd like to see him use his teammates more and add some grit to his game.

"In playoff hockey you've got to be physical, earn momentum that way, finish checks, key in on their top guys," Rangers forward Rick Nash said. "It's definitely one of the reasons for our success in the last two games."

Good to know that you get it in theory. You should try that.

Lol he just listed everything he isn't doing right. When was this said? Could these be his adjustments for tonight?

One of the major issues with Nash I foresaw during the regular season was how often he liked to deke and weave in between defesenman. He had a great success rate during the regular season, something like 40-50% which is great because he pulls it off it generates fantastic chances.

But there was no way in hell he was going to sustain that deking efficiency in the playoffs, defenses get better and don't allow that to happen.

He needs to adjust his game more, rely more on his body than purely his hands.

He keeps on trying to score the pretty highlight reel goal. Utterly clueless when it comes to playoff hockey.
