That's not even my problem with it, he completely butchers the call. I mean I get messing it up a little but no announcer in the NHL would butcher a call that badly. And this isn't the first time he's done it.
I get it, he's been one of the biggest symbols of Buffalo Sabres hockey but it's time to move on.
I'm still not understanding you. How does he butcher the call? The goal call comes off as goofy but RJ's just trying to get around to saying how Grigorenko scored in his first game since it was confirmed that he would be staying in the pro ranks for awhile. It was his 6th game so that decision had just been made. I don't get the feeling at all that he didn't know who scored.
Now if you don't like his goofy goal calls fine, I think it's part of his charm.
I would still prefer Rick to most of the NBC broadcast guys (though the TSN broadcasts are excellent....). I don't spend much time stewing about him mistaking Flynn for Ennis, and I like play by play people to actually describe the action. He's earned the right to stay, in my opinion.
