Yeah, cause Legwand is a prime candidate for a buyout. Why would we trade a guy for an asset when we could waste ownerships money to lose him for nothing?

Edmonton, who needs veteran leadership, center depth, and defensive play would give up something good for Legwand, though I doubt we even move him.

That has to be a joke.
1. He talks about replacing Legwand with Roy or Weiss. I would take Legwand over Weiss to begin with and Weiss wouldn't come for 3.5m. Roy I can see an argument but Legwand had the better year this year and is better defensively, also Roy will be expensive.

2. There is no sign whatsoever that Legwand has wore out his welcome. He is looked to as a leader on the team.

Per Josh Cooper:

JoshuaCooper ‏@JoshuaCooper 9m
David Poile said Bourque is skating

JoshuaCooper ‏@JoshuaCooper 9m
Yip is 100 percent with a knee issue

JoshuaCooper ‏@JoshuaCooper 7m
Colin Wilson had his other shoulder operated on Monday. Same procedure. That would be the left shoulder. Had right operated on earlier

JoshuaCooper ‏@JoshuaCooper 6m
Pekka Rinne had a hip arthroscopy per Poile. Same surgery as Backstrom and Thomas

JoshuaCooper ‏@JoshuaCooper 6m
Four month recovery

dammit we should have pulled Rinne and sent him for surgery three or four weeks ago when it was obvious the season was lost. We would have screwed Milwaukee by calling up Hellberg but Rinne would have finished rehabbing before camp.

Paul Fenton expects Mattias Ekholm to be in Nashville next season.
Also said Hellberg "will challenge for an NHL spot", but that just sounds like rhetoric to me. Back to Ekholm, if that is true, Weber, Josi, Klein, Ekholm, Blum, Ellis, Bartley, Gill, and OKT will all be vying for spots next year, plus most people think we'll sign/acquire another top 4 guy..which makes 10 NHL dmen. Someone has to go.

Fenton still high on Ryan Ellis and thinks he will be a star in the NHL.
Could, again, just be rhetoric, but he didn't say anything about Blum. I don't expect to see Blummer in gold next year, and Poile is going to want a pick between #4 and #64. Connecting the dots...

ekholm is gonna surprise a bunch of people next year. im really high on this kid. gonna come out solid like josi except i see him ending up on the 2nd pair with klein eventually.

fenton may feel that way but ellis has a long way to go and some pounds to gain.. definitely seems like blum could be out the door. i believe blum gets us a 2nd round pick.

I'm hoping Blum can land us a 1st between 20 and 25. I'd even add one of our 3rds or 4ths to that. I guess we'll probably see soon enough.

I am a big believer in Ekholm's future, but I'd rather hold off and give him one more year as Milwaukee's #1 guy.

That's really worrisome about Wilson. Finally a forward capable of big things and now he's having two surgeries. Scary stuff.

those were the words of the boards insiders.. thought it was around a month.. then we didnt hear anything and it became obvious it was worse than expected. very, very worrisome.

also, don't think there is a chance in hell that blum garners a first in the 20-25 range

Remember, If Couturier hadn't gone to Philly, Ellis would have been traded for a top 10 pick. I'm not sure Blum has the same value as #20, but I don't think Blum+3rd is crazy to the right team.

Look at Calgary. They've got THREE 1sts. If they get two guys they like and aren't crazy about anyone at #24-26, I could see them doing Blum+3rd/4th for that pick. God knows they need NHL ready players.

ellis and blum's value is at an all time low.. you may be right if we find the right team especially with an abundance of firsts... columbus has 3 and moving to the east, too.. still don't see blum getting anything better than the #35-50 range.
