Give Soderberg a chance, how can he be worse than Kelly at this point in time.

If he plays well, great, if not then put Kelly back in.

I liked the Soderberg/Jagr connection, see what they can do, imagine if the Bergeron line starts producing and Soderberg/Jagr get hot, this team will be unbeatable.

Guys like Kelly are not missed until they are gone. He does a lot on the ice that doesn't necessarily show up on the stat sheet.

The Bruins don't have anyone in the system that can replace his pure shutdown ability.

Pretty sure Kelly will be heard from before these play-offs are done, in a good way.

You keep a guy like Kelly, unless the salary demands become unsustainable.
Yet, I also very much like the idea of having Soderberg play with Jagr and using Kelly/Peverly every odd shift/situationally.

Is there some rule against doing this, I mean, aside from it doesn't fit within Clode's Black Box Mind?

No matter what, Soderberg would've scored there.

There should be a permanent thread called "Today's Whipping Boy" where the current Bruins under fire can be tarred and feathered verbally. That way we can save all these new threads every time a player goes into a slump and the pitchforks and torches come out.

I think Pevs is the problem. The Jagr line has looked best as Kelly-yeti-jagr

To be fair Kelly and Pevs have been in a season long slump.

Wow. Define "slump".

All I'm saying is that the guy has had a terrible season (fact) has a chance to start fresh in the playoffs (fact) and needs to step his game up (opinion).

BUMP *post SCF game 1.

-3 for Kelly tonight.

32% @ the dot.

He made some nice defensive plays but that has to be expected from any NHL player, no?

Shouldn't NHL forwards also be expected to do, I dunno.... do BLOODY SOMETHING on offense as well?

He has now gone 20 games without a point.
Not even a measly 2nd assist.
We're talking John Scott level 'production' here in the offensive zone.

Thornton gets benched in OT but we keep rolling out Kelly? What the ****? Neither probably deserves to play but Kelly is amazingly bad. With a man down Clode benches Thornton but still rolls Kelly. We needed all the bodies we could get, what makes Kelly playable in 3ot at this point?

I hope he enjoys his compliance buyout. No team is going to take him at $3m and he has a full NTC so trading him isn't an option.

Agreed 100%. If we had Campbell we could put Soderberg into the lineup and sit Kelly's ass. Hard to do with our shortage of C's right now

Did he play over his head in 2011? I like what he brings but he won't be the goal scorer we want

At least guys like Seguin, Daugavins and even Peverley look OK out there when they aren't finishing (they generate some chances). This guy is COMPLETELY invisible, more so than anyone else on the team. Yeah, he's a good PKer; we only have like 10 forwards that can do that. He has even been hit and miss on the draws now as well.

The "Full Kelly" will henceforth be when a player goes through four rounds of playoffs without contributing a single point.

- Kelly has no points in 21 straight playoff games, dating to last year
- He has only been a plus player in 1 game during that span; He's been a minus player 9 times
- He pretty much brings dread to my heart every time he is on the ice recently.

The only thing in his favor is he's apparently the only left-handed faceoff guy we have, so clearly this means he needs to get $3 million for the next three years because how will they ever find another left-handed center who can win faceoffs? Might I suggest UFA David Steckel?
