So pleased with our performance and the series overall. So much character in this team now.

And our MVP, never have we had close to this caliber of goaltending!

Anderson is undoubtedly the best playoff goalie we've ever had, and by the transitive property of the playoffs being the only thing that ****ing matters, he's the best goalie in franchise history.

On your board now....Congrats Sens. Your team deserve every piece of it. Luck or not, goalie or not, this playoffs is not about who is the best team....it's about who is the team that WINS. And only that matters. Nobody cares who were the best, only care about who won. And you did. And you keep going on.

One thing though....we as fans needs to be freakin patient. In the Bruins road to Cup, during their series against us, tons of bruins fans wanted Julien and Chiarelli out...and then they won. I also know that around here....Murray wasn't the most favorite guy....pretty sure each and every one of you asked for him to be replaced. Geez, I'm not a Sens fan and for your own sake, I wished you'd replace him.....Well just the Anderson trade seems to be good enough for him to stick around.

Anyway, congrats again.

We had such epic wins too.

1. Win 1 - Trolololo - 3rd period come back with 3 goals in Montreal.

2. Win 2 - Domination - perhaps best Ottawa playoff game ever. Ran them out of the rink on the scoreboard and in every fight in a line brawl. Had LEAF fans coming to congratulate us. I think that's probably the stand-out game, which is crazy, because they were all fun.

3. Win 3 - Pesky Sens - this team does not surrender. It was in this game where it became apparent that the 3rd period would never be the Habs period. Aside from the faceoff, the kick, the icings, or whatever other crap that was thrown up, the fact remains that they had a 2-0 lead in the third and they blew it.

4. Win 4 - Go for the jugular - Bend, but don't break. Habs threw everything they had at times, but even they began to believe that it was for nothing. Ottawa responds, then casually steps on the throat in the 3rd period. This was the game where they learned from last year's mistakes - don't ever let your opponent get back up.

The jugular. We took it. *tear*
The quote earlier in the year by one of the vets (I think it was Phillips?) when asked about how they were keeping it together after the injuries was really telling.

About how this team is kinda backward because the Championship Bingo Boys were the ones that were taking charge and leading the way, for the older core to follow. Whether we like it or not, the core veteran group on the Senators hasn't really won much, but that Bingo group is the group that has actually won a championship together. That killer instinct has served this team really well.

Thanks for the well-wishes.

My quibble is that my definition of the best team is the team that wins.

That's the way the sport is evaluated.

Your team may be better at generating shots and skating around with the puck, but my team is better at preventing and scoring goals.

Not trying to be an ass here, but that's the way it is IMO.

Cheers.

Murray was ready to be hanged but he pulled a rabbit out of his hat when he was given permission to blow up the team and made a flurry of genius moves that created the core that we have today and basically saved his job.

Congrats Ottawa. Your team played great and battled till the end.

You guys have a good team. Great coach, great goalie, good young players, older players who still play with a lot of intensity.

And you were able to win the series without your #1 center. I must say I'm impressed

But the biggest comparison has to be with the old Sens-Leafs series where we were outworked, pushed to the perimeter, forced to deal with good goaltending and physicality.
Won a bet off a buddy who felt confident in his habs.

I said if they win I'll get a habs car flag and keep it on until they're eliminated.

But if we win he has to get a leafs car flag and keep it until the Sens are bumped.

To his credit he accepted, and I expect to get a picture tomorrow. I had to confess that this series reminded me of Sens-leafs where all the breaks went one way.

Feels good though.

Nothing merciful in the way we finished them tonight. I could give a **** less what anyone says about Montreal having injuries.. As if anyone can cry to us about injuries holding you back from succeeding. We had everything going against us 15 games into the year. We were never out of a playoff spot. Part of hockey is overcoming adversity, something we've done all year long. Habs could not do this, they victimized themselves instead. I blame Therrien for this, and it's why I think he is a ****** coach. You don't play the pity me angle in the playoffs, because no one does. Everyone has bumps and bruises. Not once throughout the year did Maclean play the pity us card because we're missing 4 of our stars. Not once. We were a team, an army, we stuck together and everyone took their share in filling the voids. Zibanejad and Silfverberg had strong rookie seasons. Turris was thrown into being a number one centre and duplicated last years numbers under harder competition. We beat the odds because of our coach's message. To play a full 60 minutes and all 200 ft. Good players regardless of their name will be rewarded with minutes.

We won this because we have a better coach and a better team.

Not sure how we'll do against a team with a hot goalie and/or a better and bigger overall defence.

Our PP still irks me. We scored some goals this series, but usually when the game was out of reach.
Is there a team with a bigger D corps? Obviously in terms of sheer size Boston is probably bigger but I still like our corps over theirs in a series.

That being said of all the teams - Boston is my most 'feared'. I look at Montreal and their forwards tried to be like Boston's forwards in some respects - they were relentless in puck pursuit - they'd hit more often than they were given credit for.

In the end they were too fragile, our D was resilient enough.

With the bigger Boston forwards - that's probably not going to be the case. But against a team like Pittsburgh? I think we match up better with them than Montreal as crazy as it sounds.

IDK Montreal dived and whined a lot but they were also physical. Much more physical than what I've seen in the Islanders-Pittsburgh series.

Many things could happen but I think our back-end and our red hot goaltender gives us a good shot at being like the 2003 Ducks. But I'm sure we could be easily knocked out in round 2/3 as well if things come together for another team with more depth.

That calmness you're talking about. They talked about it on TSN too. And how they would not want to face Ottawa in the playoffs. I mean the scary thing is the Sens can win even if the get badly outplayed.

I have no doubt the Pens will outshoot the Sens pretty badly most games... but I think the Sens will make a series of it. It's not completely hopeless.

Hell of a series, proved a lot of people wrong and shut up a big chunk of the mainstream media. Everyone contributed and the team showed a lot of heart.

Very proud of the Sens and can't wait for Round 2!
