yeah because we all know playing squeaky clean like gentlemen is the easiest path to the Cup

I'll reserve judgement... if he agitates and provokes and gets the other team off their game, I'm fine with it... if he turns out to be SOB v 2.0 and takes a bunch of stupid, useless untimely penalties, then I'll be pissed

Meh, I don't see anything wrong with pushing a guy who is holding your stick. Defensemen get away with a lot more in that area of the ice, and for less.

Thats why he's so important for the Norwegian national team, thats why other teams hate his play, and thats why the IIHF disciplinary panel always goes after him.

In this case, the ref (normally an NHL-official) called it a 2 min minor because the other guy was holding his stick, also a penalty. But the IIHF turned it into a suspension, his second in this tournament for minor stuff.

OKT belongs in the NHL, where he can play his game without having these idiots on his neck.

Well, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with the general sentiment here. This guy has been suspended TWICE already in the tournament. He just slashed this guy in the nuts, hard.

He cup checked him first. That was dirty as hell. I'd fight over that, even in a beer league.

You see? He's an agitator, a tough one. I guess thats why the Preds have been trying to sign him for a long time. They obviously need this kind of player on the blueline.

I'm not even sure if it was dirty, the guy's nuts are okay thanks to the cup.

I really don't want a guy who makes a habit of stuff like that in Nashville colors. That kind of crap has no place in hockey, and it would probably get him a multi-game suspension in the NHL.

That's Sean Avery sorta stuff, an insult to agitators across the league. He can stay where he is as far as I'm concerned. I'm with trig, someone pulls that off on me and I'll end up with a multi game suspension.

for a team that cheered on Tootoo for years, watching him sucker punch Robidas and many other cheap shots, I cant see how you guys would shy away from a player because of that. Im guessing some of you wouldnt want Perry either because he cup checked Rinne once? Or Danny Briere for his cheap slashes (back in his prime) or Lindros or Stevens, because they arent nice guys....

OKT obviously plays with an edge and is something our blueline is severely lacking, I see no problem with him coming here and earning a spot.

EDIT: im not condoning actions Im just surprised by the softness.

Is OKT even coming here? I thought the thread or someplace had a shoot down of this. Is it a confirmed signing?

BTW, I was thinking about the Perry incident as well. Yes, I'd take the guy but the cup check is a bush league move. It's like the Bobby Ryan foot stomp... there are some things that, wherever you draw the line, are on the wrong side of it.

Robidas was coming at Tootoo with bad intentions, Tootoo was just quicker, IMHO.

A physical edge I love, hitting a guy in the nuts with your stick isn't physical and not something that should be a part of hockey.

It's a game of emotions and some guys shoot off a little easier. Honestly, I like a guy with that sort of edge. If the guy doesn't do it often or over the line then that's perfect. I'm sure every player has done something they regret doing at some point.

Tootoo could have avoided the punch. He could have checked him to slow Robidas momentum then fought him normally. Either way like it has been said this game is played with emotion and stuff happens all the time.

OKT is really not a dirty player, I've never seen a suckerpunch from him. That Swede wouldn't let go of his stick, and pissed him off. Who wouldn't be?

Will he become a Predator? Sounds like it according to that article, link in #4. I guess he can't sign before July 1st anyway.

Btw, what happened to Tootoo, where is he playing?

Didn't SOB try to carve up someone's face while he was a Pred. I remember him swiping his stick at a guy, face and missing the first time. So he swung again and connected the second time. I enjoyed Tootoo's game when he toned it down a little. What I don't like is unnecessary penalties from cheap shots, a la Burrows.

An unprovoked stick to the crotch wouldn't sit well with me. Retaliating with a stick to the crotch is a little easier to take.

I would guess half the players in the NHL now have at least one 'highlight' that shows some kind of dirty or semi-dirty hit. P.probably a fourth have something as bad as OKT here. The guy is captain of his team so he can't be running rampant with this kind of stuff. If the Preds get a solid defenseman that can second or third pair and if that D-man has an emotional edge, it sounds like a plus to me. You want nice hockey or ice hockey?

Norwegian tv-company supports OKT when it comes his suspensions.
