Kevin Roy: Arguably snubbed for rookie of they year in the NCAA as a freshman. Led all rookies in scoring.
Frederik Andersen: Had an excellent year in the AHL as a rookie. Had some of the best numbers in the league and almost took Norfolk to the playoffs but got no scoring support.

Ahh, Frederik Andersen. The Hurricanes version of Justin Schultz. That kid would have been in the NHL this year starting had he signed with Carolina instead of Anaheim, and I hope he gets buried on the depth chart for the Ducks behind Gibson for his lack of foresight. He didn't want to sign with Carolina because, supposedly, they had a starter set in stone with Cam Ward. Now he's in an organization with Hiller, Fasth, Gibson, etc.

But in fairness to the thread, I don't think two overage kids that were drafted really are fair to list. Andersen was an overage when we drafted him in 2010 and was a really odd case. Roy was second time eligible.

I'd say that's fair. Only thing is this is still Anaheim taking the chance on these two players.

Roy got past over three different times. By Anaheim as well. Andersen obviously scared away some teams with his Schultz move. If these players continue on this path they're looking to be NHL regulars. I'd say regardless of the circumstances, that's still a steal. Not quite on the level of other teams who got talented first years.

Danil Zharkov and Jujhar Khaira for the oilers look like steals.

Hellebuyck is doing pretty well, I'd say.
