It's Janne Pesonen. And if you watch the full sequence, yes he was asking for it. Guys were slashing, grabbing, cross-checking each other for a dozen of seconds.

Overreacting is a religion on the main board. Most of the people crying murder are not even fans of Team Finland. Referees were so awful that they lost control of the game.

Also notice that the guy doesn`t have his stick, is holding Kovalchuk`s stick and almost goes for a punch first.

Fighting Kovalchuk is never a smart thing. Here is a prime example.

I was watching the Finland/USA game earlier in the week, and I thought the Pesonen on that team was Harri.

As long as Kovy doesn't hurt his hands, I have no problem with him playing with that type of edge.

Kovy
This man just hates losing. He just hates it
He is unreal when he heats up. And he puts it in the net, even if that means forcing it in on a pure will.
I know him getting tossed ultimately hurts his team, but I can't help it. I LOVE THAT MAN. Period.
And thank our lucky stars we got him instead of that other guy. Cause let's face it - there was a writting on a wall - "there can be only one"

You were lucky that Jukka Jalonen is coach of Finland. (SKA coach too)

Because when that happened Ilari Melart was screaming to get on the ice to beat **** out of Ilya. Luckily for him he got sent out and Jalonen wouldn't let Melart to the ice.

Or Jalonen didn't want Melart to be concussed by a Kovalpunch . You're lucky Jalonen is a wise man that doesn't take Ilya 6'3" 235 lbs too lightly.

Buhbye.

Yep, good game for USA.
My France team battled hard but this was a tough game for us.
Next, Germany and Latvia for us: we believe in quarters !

The punch with the stick to the bench is bad. You don't do that. If Subban did that many here would spew about how classless he is.

This is not how Kovy should play. He lost his discipline and there's really nothing to admire about it.

This. The game on international ice is totally different. All of this is just the result of frustration and seems like he really doesnt care for this team. Had he done that **** in the NHL POs, you wouldve decapitated him. Being out for the next game etc... Classless

Didn't Kovalchuk do that with like seconds to go in the game? Chill with the "it's classless, he doesn't care for his team" talk.
(Unless this is all in jest and my sarcasm meter is broken. In which case carry on)
