Shhhhhh, I am so afraid to talk about Carter, Richards and Pitkanen being together on this team for a prolonged period of time. I hope their salary demands aren't too crazy when their times come. I remember when I couldn't imagine a time when I wouldn't be rooting for Brindy on this team and he was even on Clarke's 'will not trade' list, so I am so afraid to jinx Richards who is probably my favorite player since Roddy. Bottom line though, we need to do whatever it takes to make them happy.

If this team doesn't learn discipline, it doesn't matter who the goalie is.

I was at the game some observations:

Dimitrakos has skills. he was making Ovechkin like moves out there.
Hatcher looks good, mean, and motivated to play well
Foppa needs a few games to get used to his ankle
Jones is a waste of space, cant one time **** and coughs the puck all the time.
Esche needs to remeber where the net is cause he was out of position several times.
Kunuble looks faster
Nedved is a waste he contributes nothing out there but penalties

And Rathje and Jonsson? Ottawa's announcers mentioned Pitkanen as the best player on the ice.

Just as I thought with one exception.. Dimitrakos makes Ovechkin like moves only when he jumps on and off the bench... Esche is a solid #2, I just hope he will realize that he is a back up and becomes a younger better version of Garth Snow with one exception (Garth is a GM now )
God damn, Nedved keeps taking lazy penalties at least once every game in this case he made 5:3 PP for Sens and I begin to hate this guy he will cost us games.
Whats with special teams? Since the last year we stink on PK and now we give up SH goals. I know it's just pre-season but Hitch needs to address it asap.
Thank you god.. no inuries.

we need to make an effort around here to not bash on good ole #6 too much... i understand it's easy because of who previously wore the number, and who now wears the number. however, it's important that there are positive vibes floating around so that we can get an okay pick for him.

just saying.

i was at the game and i saw:
dimitrakos definitely making some sweet moves making the crowd go "ooo ahhh". trying hard to impress the coach?
i was impressed with downies fire, after the 1st period (when both teams were really sluggish) he seemed on a mission. too bad he flubbed a gimme goal. almost was in a fight at center ice.
jonsson had myself and a few other people around me talking. looks fast and solid. he definitely needs to make the big club somehow.
hatcher suprised me with his mobility, no way that will last an entire season though.
esche has lost the #1 job.

Impressions from the game:

Pitkanen is going to have a monster year, the best player on the ice.

Randy Robitaille should be the 4th line center, very good signing.

Lars Jonsson is an NHL player, very smooth with the puck, and also was excellent at keeping the puck in at the blueline.

Downie is still a year or two away, his grit is needed, but his skating needs some work.

We need a physical presence on the 4th line, Eager should have a spot waiting for him.

Picard will eventually be a ver solid top 4 defenseman. Looked poised, but could still use another 10 lbs. of muscle.

Scoring goals is not going to be a problem.

Esche played well:

Goal 1 - Screened from the point, in the top corner
Goal 2 - One-timed rocket under the crossbar on a 5-on-3
Goal 3 - Point shot was deflected again on the PP
Goal 4 - Breakaway, nice move by Fisher and then roofed under the crossbar

Ruzicka looked good, a little tentative at times .. but he can certainly play at this level.

While Hatcher appeared to be moving better, he needs to play a nastier more physical game. He's also going to need to drop the gloves a few times this year.

I was there also. Totally agree. Hatcher looks way better than he did last season. He wasn't getting circles skated round him. He was turning well in the D zone and keeping the Ottowa forwards on the outside.

Nedved really is a waste of space. He just didn't seem to put any effort in, and he took a stupid lazy penalty to put Ottowa on a 5 on 3 which they scored from.

Because Jones is a Hitchcock favourite and Hitch will always try to find room for his favourites, even if they don't deserve the ice time......

....but don't forget, because Primeau retired, we just NEED to have a veteran center on the roster........I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really beginning to lose confidence with management and coaching. Yeah, it's only pre-season, but what does it tell you that the same group of characters still cause the same problems and nothing gets done to rectify it?

everything you post on here is about lack of confidence in management and coaching.

ah, Jones was signed by Clarke... not Hitch. Hitch sent Jones down last year and then didn't bring him back, it was abundantly clear that Hitch gave up on the "Jones in the NHL" project. Hitchcock has all but stated that he doesn't want Jones to be the 7th dman on this team this preseason... does that sound like he's finding room for him? the problem is that Jones has a one-way contract (Clarke's fault) and it isn't the simplest thing to throw a young dman to the curb.

i mean, honestly dude... think it through. Hitch made his cuts and we're currently carrying 8 dmen, one of whom is Jonsson who Hitch, in recent quotes, has all but said is going to be in the top 6 to be a PP specialist. that leaves 3 guys for two spots... Gauthier, Baumgartner, and Jones.

you're right, Hitch is really married to Jones being a big part of this team... and how is Jones "one of Hitch's guys?" he's a rookie that has played like 30 games with this team...

It was Forsbergs first game back from surgery, how did he look?

Did he look comfortable out there or was he a little rusty?
