Yeah. All I gathered form that is once again, Lundqvist has to make the saves.

Great. He's been doing that. The only reason why Washington hasn't had MOntreal-esque blowouts at home.

This team has run out of excuses with their miserable offense and their pathetic powerplay. They score one powerplay goal tonight and we're talking about how Hank stole one.

Edit: he had a regulation shutout in game 2, which once again, was an offensive travesty.

I promise. But I can't say I promise I won't reply to your PM. If I don't, I also promise that I will put it behind me and never bring it up again.

This is truly a great idea, and will almost certainly beat whatever we have now.

Holtby's family might be in the stands. What kind of act would it be if Nash were to score a goal while Holtby's own mother is watching? That would be a lack of respeck to the Holtby Clan.

There is no ****ing reason for why Brassard isn't running our PP at this point. Just unnecessary stubbornness from Torts or Sully, it's unclear at this point what the hell they are trying to accomplish by putting Richards, Nash and MDZ out there when they've been some of our worst players.

We have two PP goals in this series, one a nice goal by Brassard and the second a beautiful pass from Brassard for a one timer by Girardi.

It's cool though let's just continue to lose games because we can't score a ******* PP goal. Stop over using the guys who are invisible they have done nothing so far to earn it and I think Brassard has done more than enough to earn it.

I put this in the playoff observation thread, but I think it's relevant here too:

So, let's break down the goals scored so far.

Game 1:

Goal 1: Point shot, rebound goal.

Goal 2: Skill goal, nice pass on a breakaway, though Hank usually makes that save.

Goal 3: Worst goal Hank gave up in like 2 years. Doesn't matter how it was scored. He stops that 999 times out of 1,000.

Game 2:

Goal: Point shot, deflected off Stepan.

Game 3:

Goal 1: Point shot, deflected in front

Goal 2: A little closer in but lots of traffic, might have been deflected

Goal 3: Point shot deflected in

Game 4:

Goal 1: Skill(ish) goal

Goal 2: Skill goal, Hank normally makes that save

Goal 3: Point shot deflected

Game 5:

Goal 1: Skill goal

Goal 2: Point shot hits traffic in front and goes right to a Ribiero

So that's 12 goals, 4 of them were skill goals. Most of them were point shots. The Caps have had plenty of skill OPPORTUNITIES, they just haven't been scoring on them. By allowing point shots putting guys in front of Hank, we're basically giving ourselves less of a chance to succeed. Hank is money on the skill pass plays. Best goalie in the league side to side. Amazing on breakaways. Yet we basically diminish our chance to succeed by playing a style that Hank is the most susceptible to giving up goals in. It's mind boggling. Like bizarro world coaching.

This is hope for Sunday. The Capitals are consummate choke artists even more so than the Rangers. Let's add another page to this Capitals history book of futility.

After having some time to think about this loss here's what I've got:

-I'm so disappointed in Rick Nash. It's one thing to not score, but it's another to be completely invisible, not hitting, doing that stupid backwards move 5 times, not shooting, not really hustling back on defense

-Nash is a great player. But he doesn't look like a winner. I thought he'd really try to prove people wrong in this series and he's been completely shut down

-I've been willing to give Richards another season, but he's been completely terrible in the playoffs when he normally elevates his game.

-Callahan was terrible in regulation and Stepan didn't give too much either

-The team played a great first period, but chances like Hagelin's are prime chances, and we need to finish them

-Boyle's penalty was stupid, but he's not to blame for this loss. Not even close. At least he tries, and that's more than I can say for some other players on the team

-If Torts is putting this loss on Brassard, he's an idiot. Brassard's been our best forward in the series, and without him we're already eliminated

-By no means am I blaming Lundqvist, but he hasn't been himself this series, especially when it comes to rebound control, where he's been very poor. Giving Washington second chances is going to hurt you, and that's exactly how Ribeiro scored the OT winner

Regroup and get ready for a winnable game 6. Confidence wise, I don't feel great about going back to Verizon Center for a game 7. House of horrors for this team. Games 1,2,5 this year. Games 4 and 6 last year (Game 3 2OT win). Games 1,2,5 in 2011. And games 5 and 7 in 2009. 1-10 in our last 11 playoff games there. Pathetic.

If they had scored first he'd be 12-0. Sounds like the forwards fault to me.

Tied after 60, it's all on Lundqvist because he's the only Ranger playing.

My god I miss last years team.

I know we've all salivated over the Nash trade, and when that screwed everything up, Sather made a FANTASTIC deal moving Gabby (though frankly, i didn't think so at first). But part of me wishes we had just sat on it, and took another shot at it again this year.

I'm not putting all that much stock into this post season. I know that's cheap, and it's a cop-out, but this team has no cohesion. Not yet, anyways. Hopefully, they pull out this series, get a little more experience. I'm not expected a solid run at the cup. If we make a decent run, GREAT, but this isn't the year. Not unless something drastic happens (Nash, Callahan, Richards go nuts, Staal comes back a god, Hank goes Hasek).

Come back next year. A full training camp, an improved roster (CK? Miller), and most importantly, a team that has played together. You can't expect cohesion with SO MUCH player turnover.

It's just a real shame that the superstar we blew up the core for hasn't done a god damn thing in the playoffs.

Am I blind or did that shot in OT never hit Hank? I saw several times. It hit off either a Cap or a Ranger in front and came right to Ribeiro. That's not on him. Hanks was responsible for ZERO goals today.
