Ironic after what you just stated about Pyatt.

Rychel is a slow footed shooter.

I disagree. Taylor can move.

I also wouldn't be opposed to drafting Zach Fucale.
Why would you take a goalie in the 1st, with no 2nd, and forward being the biggest dearth in our prospect pool. Seems like a waste.

It's always fun to have a Canadian world junior, but really, I care more about the Canucks. I want them to get the best prospects possible, regardless of what country they are from.

If we end up with one of: Zykov, Lazar, Mantha, or Morrissey, I'll be very happy.

Wasn't Tyler Toffoli characterized as a slow skating shooter? Seems like a steal for LA to me.

Not a bad draft year comparison. But if there is a redraft, he would still probably be on the cusp of the 1st and 2nd round. That's where i think Rychel should go in this draft.

And Petan plays in the WHL, which IMO is another bonus.. guy seriously looks like a mini-toews

Petan's a total rat too though, constantly chirping everyone and whining. Has some cockyness issues.

cockyness is a good thing, because it also implies confidence, and confidence is one of the most important parts of being a skilled players...

AV can teach him to keep his mouth shut, like he's done with Burr, Lappy and Kes

There is a reason Petan hasn't been ranked that high, he's put up gaudy numbers but he's on a stacked team as well and the size could be a concern but he doesn't strike me as a tentative guy.

I'd be pretty damn happy with Zykov, just have a feeling someone will take him in front of us.

Regardless of his team, you can see he definitely has the skills..

Guaranteed he will be a 60pt guy at some point in his career, if not ppg possibly

Bjorkstrand is an attractive option to me in this draft. Where is he projected, again?

we could upgrade and get an early second rounder...

Habs have 2 of the first 6 picks in the 2nd round, so I'm sure they'll be willing to part with one

mid 60's... so basically late 2nd early 3rd

Why pick him over his dominant counterpart in Petan.. serious mistake if we don't take him i think, he's ranked at 27, which is just after where our pick will be

If not him, Pulock could be a good option, ranked at 25, Dman in the WHL who has 45 points in 61 games.

He's a '94 kid though, so one of the "older" guys, and had a much better year statistically last year with 60 points in 71 games...

Not sure on the reasoning behind his drop in production, possibly confidence issues?

Also, looking at Jordan Subban, he looks like he could do some damage.

Huge improvements over his last year when he had 20 pts in 56 games and was -23..

This year he had 51 pts in 68 games and was +22 with 47 PIMs..

Seems like more of a wildcard pick, who knows if he can be successful in the NHL or not, but if he continues with his trend of improvements, he could be the next PK.

Ranked 35 at the end of April, so makes it even more risky unless we somehow get an early 2nd..

Damn Montreal is in a good position with their picks in the 2nd round...

Watched Petan a couple of times this year in person, kid can dangle and has serious skills and is a great skater. I wouldn't be disappointed if he ends up being our pick, we're in dire need of pure skill in our prospect pool.

Others I'd be happy with in no particular order:

Curtis Lazar (seems to be ranked all over the place)
Bo Horvat
Kerby Rychel (back-to-back 40 goal seasons, good size and plays tough)
Valentin Zykov (another guy with great size and good offensive skills, hope he falls)
Morgan Klimchuk (haven't seen anybody talk about him, not sure why. Has a great shot and seems like a pure sniper - would love to have him)

Honestly not a fan of Lazar... the way he plays just isn't going to work in the NHL, definitely a shoot-first mentality with him.

Rychel is ranked early 20s, so I haven't really even considered him to be an option, but he looks like a great prospect, like you say back-to-back 40 goal seasons, 6'1", might grow an inch or two still, but 200lbs so he's got a solid build for sure. Speed and his shot are his best attributes no doubt.

Reason nobody talks about Kilmchuk is because he'll be drafted around the 15 spot, which would definitely require us to upgrade.

As for Zykov, not sure why he's ranked at only around 30, definitely worth some consideration, I always like the idea of drafting guys as young as possible, so another benefit for him is being a '95.

I am only saying Rychel because of Canuck's track record of OHL picks lately. Not every slow foot shooter turn out to be Pyatt. Rychel has more offensive potiential than him. Taylor couldn't move when he played for us.

Really? I've read mock drafts that were posted no more than a couple of weeks ago that don't even have Klimchuk going in the 1st round. I'll be disappointed if he's taken top 15, we need a goal scorer.

I would love to take Subban, but we don't have a 2nd. If he's available at our 3rd, then we should be all over him, but I doubt he makes it that far.

This. I'd actually prefer a cocky attitude over the more timid, respectful players. Look at some of the core/skill players from the teams that have won lately(Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty, Patrick Kane, Brad Marchand, etc.).
