"We may have a couple of extra players," Carbonneau said

Carbonneau said at the beginning of training camp that he wanted to play his final two pre-season games with the club he would take into the regular season. But Kostitsyn and Latendresse have been stronger than expected, so Carbonneau wants to keep them aboard - at least for now.

"We may have a couple of extra players," Carbonneau said. "We have two games left and we'll have to make some tough decisions (Wednesday) and send some guys to Hamilton, but we'll definitely have our team set by Sunday."

"Latendresse didn't really help or hurt his chances because he didn't play," Carbonneau said. "I would have liked to see him play for 60 minutes, that's for sure.

Carbo also said sooner , that if one of the kid plays good , that they will make room for him , apart for the available post ; Now he needs to live with that , because it' s the youngs that are creating things on the ice .

What about a team without enforcer ?

Carbo also mentioned on the radio that he can't trade a dollar for a quarter, making his decisions not fully hockey related (despite him stating that all positions are open to the rookies to steal);

I have a feeling that means that neither Latendresse nor Kots will make the team.

What's wrong with Kostitsyn starting the year in Hamilton and being the first called up when someone gets injured? Someone will get injured, that can't be avoided.

That probably makes the most sense. You don't lose Perez. that way. Sending Last down, can't be undone, sending Kost. down, can.
At a point, it's not whether the kid has earned a job, it's whether he team will be better with them in the lineup.

Kost wont be cut today, carbo said it during is press conference yesterday.

Kost needs to work on his english we dont want another guy like markov who cant adress the media by himself and wont mix off the ice with the other. The team is young the chemistry will be very good between all those young players in a few years and part of that chemistry starts off the ice.

On a good note perez seems to be getting better in english. He did talk to the media today, hes doesnt have Kovy's english or Samsonov's but still he did talk to the media.

First, there's plenty of guys to address the media, so who cares?
Second, how can you know who mixes with the other off the ice? What baring does that have with on-ice performance? Also, who cares?

It's called team building. It's hard to be a part of the team if you don't have any friends on the team. Also, someone who is happy off the ice, is more likely to be happy on the ice, and that leads to a better performance.

Dont you know that all the great mtl teams were like a huge family?
Thats what carbo wants to do with this team. If a guy cant communicate well with the rest it will be hard for him to enjoy himself has much. People work harder when they enjoy themself at work, its has simple has that. Having good relations with teammates makes you enjoy your work.

That's completely true. There's more to a team than what you see on the ice. Their human too, not just players in a game. If they feel excluded from the team, they might even want out.

Koivu decided already, Lats is on the team

Seriously though, just as a personal commentary, what the heck was up with HF last night? 1 night, everyone is making lines with Lats on the team, the very next, Lats is going back to the Q, Kost is on all the line combos. Noone can make up their mind around here.
