It won't be a killer if they amnesty him.

Stepan
Brassard
Lindberg
Boyle

Nothing wrong with that.

It was risky to began with giving him that contract. He was already over 30.

Yeah, I think most of us were expecting 2 or 3 years of 65-75 point brad...then a decline over a few years, and finally significant concern about the last 2 or 3 years. What year are we in now? lol

What I saw today made sense to me. It is encouraging to see that his TOI was drastically cut. It had to be, there really is no other choice as a manager (coach).

It still blows my mind that Richards is so unengaged.

i was pointing to it last season, but the team was playing so well and he had some clutch game winners that his decline flew under the radar. unfortunately the lockout coincided with the prime age most humans, not just athletes start to decline physically. add to that, poor conditioning during the break, leads to where he is today. he could still be productive on a stacked team, maybe, but he will never do it here ever again.

**** injury risks. Going to have to buy him out this year. Don't take that chance.

Richards seems like a nice enough guy. I feel bad, but his play this whole season was inexcusable. He couldn't get it together in the regular season, and he isn't doing jack **** now.

His decline is surprising. It is like he became 40 over the summer.

This. People forget that he was bad for large portions of last season as well. He just played well in the playoffs so he was forgiven. He has essentially been stealing money and it's time for him to go. There is not a single aspect of the game that he excels at anymore.

He can finally have the energy to perform up to expectations of being the best 4th liner in the league.

maybe its Richards declining or maybe its something personal that is effecting his game.. its very shocking that a 33 year old player is declining really fast. especially one that has been healthy last 3 season over 70 games 80 72 82 games... maybe he has a personal issue like drugs or alcohol.. something is def not right.. Jagr Recchi Selanne Weight both played well into their mid and late 30s and didnt show much of declining... im guessing its a battle with demons... if he was injury prone then i can see him declining at a rapid pace...

Half way through the game, I asked my old man if it was possible to buy him out before the start of the 3rd period.

And people are calling Boyle a black hole. Richards kills more offensive zone set ups than anyone on the team combined. Everytime he's on the ice it's basically a short handed shift for the Rangers. It reminds me of the video where Drury skated around aimlessly for an entire shift and just looked lost out there, not even trying. He's a turnover/bad pass machine.

This just in, Richards spotted while trying to withdraw a lump sum (about $12 Million) of cash from his local Chase bank. James Dolan waited in a mask while clutching a baseball bat to take back whats rightfully his.

Don't let the door hit you on your way out to P.E.I after tonight pal, you won't be missed. Well, maybe in Tampa/Dallas

I don't think he's done as an NHL player. He just needs to go play somewhere outside the spotlight, where he can kind of fly under the radar as a good second line guy. His skills are declining, surely, but I think his issues are more mental. He hit a rough spot and things have just snowballed. Hard to see him recovering here.

The sad thing is that there really aren't any players available this off-season. Would have been great to have that money available for Suter last off-season.

They have to be careful with who they go after, they have to be VERY good, elite players. Richards, Gomez, Drury, Redden. Not elite.

I'd rather take a flier on a couple mid-tier guys. Let Clowe walk, amnesty Richards, and focus on guys like Viktor Stalberg, Clarke McArthur or Bryan Bickell. Those types. System guys, not huge names, with some upside. That's assuming the price is right. Who knows what the UFA market will bring this summer.

Jettison BR and let that be the last big "splash" we make on the market. Ever.

gonna be tough not to make a big splash every few years when the team rarely ends up with a top draft pick. but yeah, it's unfortunate so many of these guys don't pan out.

Im inching closer to the idea of amnestying Richards this summer. Cut bait and get it overwith.

But if they're going to do that, they better not reach into attempting to replace him with a #1 center that just doesnt seem to be on the market.
