He was quite shaky last year and even the start of the current year

I think after the fifth game, I was calling for him to be sent to the minors he was playing that poorly

He made a HUGE turnaround

I said it from the beginning, pretty absurd that he was a throw in in all of those proposed deals. Franson is a good NHL defensman, a lot of teams would love to have him.

Yes, he is been on bottom pairing with Fraser but these two have been one of our better d-man's this year.

cough *Preds fans* cough, you guys told us he is a softy and doesn't use his size to his advantage.

At 1 million, his contract has been a steal.
Because *cough* he didn't *cough*. He averaged less than one hit per game in Nashville, he didn't clear the crease and he was soft along the boards. He would rather use his stick to fish for the puck than play the body.

I'm glad he is doing better, but don't call out Nashville fans because a player is growing his game two seasons after his last game as a Predator. That's just ****ing silly.

He's had an excellent season. In for a bit of a payday I would assume.

He was the same last year too, I didn't really get that part of his post either. He still isn't as physical as you'd like someone his size to be but he has certainly improved that aspect of his game. It's also hard to criticize his physical play on a night where he has 9 hits.

As a matter of the thread, Franson is an elite 3rd pairing guy.

He plays his minutes, plays good enough in both ends, not often a liability and scores or creates goals every now and then, and he can be a PP specialist on the 1st unit.

9 hits tonight, a couple huge ones. An assist too and again in general a very solid steady game. Glad he's found himself this year, this is how a big defenseman with an excellent shot should play.

Like him but still think he chases too much in the defensive zone. Sometimes he'll be near the blueline.

Yea lets go back to the good old days of having 3 threads bashing Burke for an entire season.

Bump.

So anyone that has watched the Bruins-Leafs series, what are your honest thoughts? Guys.

He looks like a legit top 4 d-man out there and he is been playing such a solid hockey game right now.

Same goes with Gardiner, two of our best d-man this entire series.

Can't believe some fellow Leafs fans actually thought he was nothing more than bottom pairing d-man.

Disagree that's he's underrated.

He's an average second pairing defenseman/high-end third pairing defenseman, and most people recognize him as one.

In my opinion, he's rated exactly where he deserves.

Again he's been outstanding for us. Top 4 dman playing up to his potential. Hopefully he keeps it up into next year as well.

This, although as a Lightning fan I really appreciate consistent top-4 defensemen. They're one of the hardest kinds of player to find because of all the responsibility that a defenseman has. Any team would love to have Franson.

He's been playing waaaaaay better (and different to an extent) in the playoffs than he has in the regular season. It was pretty apt to consider him a 3rd pairing defenceman before the post-season, but with the way he's been playing he could be a top-4 easily.

His issues in Nashville were basically hitting and his speed

He hits now and uses his size well. His positioning has also improved that his speed isn't as much of an issue.

He's always been a stud offensively. He has a wrister with eyes, good passing and can QB a PP.

Just look at Nashville. He'd be a top 4 there easily. They gave up on the wrong dman unfortunately.
