Is it just me or has Selanne done nothing all year? I haven't noticed him a single time I watched the Ducks.

I know, i find it really hard to believe that Reimer of all goaltenders is actually holding them off. I expect Reimer to be his true self tomorrow and let in at least five, though

Could this be Selanne's final game of his career?

They made it to the finals, and lost to a damn good ducks team. What are you talking about?

These DRW kids have played brilliant for 2 periods thus far, let's see if they can keep it together for one more.

Scored at a 21 goal, 42 point pace this season. Not bad for a 42 year old. He has clearly slowed down this season but he has had some timely goals. Heck he scored a big one in game 1.

One minor rule adjustment I would like to see...

When you ice the puck with your goalie pulled you shouldn't be allowed to put him back in the net for the faceoff. It should be treated like any icing, ALL the players on the ice have to stay on the ice. That includes the guy who stepped in for the goalie.

Way to go Detroit. Zetterberg is such an amazing player. Him and Datsyuk... wow. Glad the Wings made my little rant about the Ducks earlier in the thread not look stupid.

No team that has Cogliano as the extra attacker in game 7 down a goal can be that good.

Edit: Last game for Selanne? Last of the great 90's stars... Brodeur is still around I suppose.

It wasn't just Z/Dats stepping up for the DRW today. Abdelkader is now a relied-upon veteran. Cleary and Bertuzzi were injured all year long and are suddenly solid old goats on the forecheck. Filppula is looking more and more consistent in terms of creating offense, and that defense is looking unreal.

Other than that unlucky bounce today, Ericsson was the DRW's best defenseman this series. So solid in both ends, doing an incredible job to limit that Getzlaf line at even-strength (2pts for Getz in this series at ES).

Smith and Kindl could be pillars for the future for that team. I don't know if either have top-pairing potential (perhaps just Smith), but they've really turned around their game.

No kidding.

I'm excited for these matchups, as each team plays similar to each other. DRW/CHI play that high-pace, quick-transition style. DET's going to have a hard time containing all the offensive firepower in CHI's lineup though...

I feel Zetterberg and Datsyuk likely stay split up for that series, just to contain the top-2 lines in Chicago. I just don't see any way CHI loses that series.

As for SJS-LAK - perfect - two teams with big forwards, similar hard-forechecking styles. Not really a lot of speed in this series, just the similar type of play we saw from STL-LAK in Round 1. I feel SJS with their top-end scoring talent may stand a better chance than STL to come out on top. They're relying heavily on youngsters in important roles (Galiardi, Wingels, Irwin, Braun), so it'll be interesting to see if they hold up against the heavy LAK checking style.

An SJS-CHI/DET WCF is what I'm looking to see. That should be some great hockey.

The Ducks benefited from the shortened season. They got on a roll and maintained it.

Anaheim overachieved in the regular season and were exposed in the playoffs. Detroit is overachieving right now - I can't really point out why. Combination of factors. Veterans injured in the season are back now. Young players are getting better.

Either way, they're doomed vs CHI.

"I" am an Oiler fan 1st, DET 2nd. Feels weird being addressed that way.

As for DET vs CHI - they lost all 4 games vs the Hawks this season. But 3 were in OT/SO - and they've been hard-fought, close battles.

If DET can keep up their current level of play it should at least make the series interesting.

I just don't see how a healthy, well-rested CHI team with Sharp back in the fold is going to see a roadbump in the Wings.

Oh wow, one SC final in over 20yrs. Must've slept through that one. They lost in 5 games and probably a rout.

You must be a Sens fan to know that bit of trivia.

For a club that had as many high picks as the Senators the whole franchise has been a disaster on and off the ice.

Bruins and Ducks look like the same species of club. Put it all together one season but other than that lazy teams that underachieve.

How do you not get up for playoff games? A whole lot of ducks should be looking in the mirror.

Not taking anything away from Detroit but Ducks stars are in prime of their careers. Wings stars are older.

More Bernie Nicholls Twitter jackassery. I didn't like him as a player and in retirement he's just giving me more reasons to despise him.

Someone ought to remind him the Kings have exactly one championship in 40+ years.

I'd be happy if they got rid of the delay of game penalty and just made it the same as an icing call.

Also, the whole covering your hand with the puck penalty(outside the crease, of course) is silly. i don't think it was a needed rule change.

I'm also a fan of "if you don't lift your foot, then a kicking goal can count"

As for the coaching challenge, I guess that would be okay.

A ducks team that was arguably better than Boston 10-11 and better than many others in the past 10 years.

Edit: Regardless, I agree, Sens should have been better during that period with how they were drafting, and I don't see them making it past the Penguins (unfortunately - not because I'm a Sens fan but because I despise the Pens).
