Would an early goal actually be bad? Because you know we'll try to win it 1-0 if we get it.

Regarding penalties. I made the fatal flaw on the main board and tried using logic on whether the Caps have been getting hosed by officials:

Quote:
Here's my 2 cents on the officiating and why I think while we MIGHT have gotten the benefit, it's not as one sided as everyone thinks. I won't bring up bad calls against the Rangers, or missed calls against the Caps. I will however, try to use logic.

If it's a conspiracy:

1) Ovechkin is EASILY the biggest name in this series. He's probably the 2nd biggest name post-lockout having a resurgent Richard season. I fail to see why the league would want the Rangers through. Yes, NY is the largest city and the biggest TV Market in America (just going by size of the DMA, the market region tracked by Nielsen). Washington however is a large one itself, #8. If we're going by hockey markets then it definitely is a bigger one than larger DMAs. I'd bet they're definitely bigger than LA and Dallas. Most likely San Jose too, which is part of the San Francisco DMA. So it's top 5 most when you account for DMA and hockey interest. Now Pittsburgh is a bigger hockey market but a far smaller DMA. It's not perfect. There's also Canadian teams. Just trying to show that Washington is a big market. Besides, I'm not sure if the market the team PLAYS in is as important as the national audience. I have no numbers to back it up, but I would think casual fans in other cities would rather tune in to see the best goal scorer in the league than the best goalie in the league.

If it's incompetence:

2) This is a bit harder. The PPs HAVE been out of whack. Incompetence pretty much means that the refs are not biased but are RANDOMLY helping the Rangers because they suck. So let's first take out game 1. I think even most Caps fans would think that that game was fair towards the Caps. More PPs for the Caps. The most they've had in any game in the series (5). So, did the Caps get hosed in the last 5 games? On a subjective basis, what does it mean that a team is getting hosed? Pretty much there are bad penalties called against them AND there are bad missed calls against the other team (I guess you can have one or the other, but seems Caps fans are calling for both). Now excluding game 1, is it reasonable to assume that the refs RANDOMLY satisfied both conditions (bad penalties against the Caps and bad non-calls against the Rangers) for FIVE straight games?
It didn't take long for someone to ignore everything in this post and use the flawless argument "hey the Rangers have had more PPs guys! Way more!"

My mistake is underestimated how much people refuse to think.

If we take this series, caps fans will be complaining about the officiating for years to come.

If there ever was a game where the NYR really could use the first goal, this is it. Hopefully Henrik is in the Capitals head a bit and they grip their sticks too tight. In any event, you know it's going to be a heart-attack inducing nail biter as usual. And, the Wings did the exact same thing last night.

The Wings were just awesome defensively last night - something I think the NYR can do just as well. It's a matter of being able to score in DC when Oates is matching lines.

I fear for the foul play the last minute by the caps If it looks like we're gonna win it.

I think this could be an ugly one. Following the brawl at the wistle yesterday. Wouldn´t be surprised to see either fights or cheap shots.

I'm hoping this is the game the Rangers capitalize on some chances. Rangers win 5-2

Stepan
Hagelin
Stralman
Boyle
Callahan (EN)

Anything can happen in a game 7. Rangers definitely have the D and goaltending to stop the Caps.

I don't see it. This game will be close, low on scoring, plenty of blocked shots. If the Rangers score two or more they will win.

The 8pm start gives Henrik some more time to relax. The game ended at 7pm last night. The Leafs-Bruins game ended between 9:30pm-10pm. Their game starts at 7pm tonight. The Rangers were in their hotel rooms by the time the Leafs game ended.

Welp, here's to hoping the Rangers can take care of business and move onto the 2nd round. Hopefully we get a few bounces and I don't have to gasp for breath everytime the Capitals enter our zone. I'm not ready for this season to be over and I hope they aren't either. Let's go boys!

Last nights game was amazing though, the boys really have the rythm now, hope they keep the pace the next 60 minutes and take it home.

Expecting Brassard to play a key role in the offense again. Also hoping for a hobbit goal, the little guy sort of deserves one by now.

LGR!

I'm thinking double-overtime and 2 possible heart attacks. Rangers 2-1.
