I think the whole twitter hashtag thing is bull. There was nobody making Hall hashtags like the number of Duchene ones. I voted around 3000 times alone last Thursday. There were 3 or 4 other people who voted way more. Plus i got retweeted a few hundred times which would add in another 5 thousand or so votes since retweets count.

It certainly doesn't look good for EA if that's the case. If they have an idea of who they want on the cover, then put them on the cover.

Instead what they've done is given the people who doubt the validity of the vote more ammunition (and justified reasoning) to believe the voting was always rigged.

I too question whether or not hashtags count

How are you supposed to count them?

Just seems like savvy marketing from EA to get people tweeting about the game non stop

ding ding ding! We have a winner. EA has been voted worst gaming company two years running. The cover vote never was about the fans, it was always about marketing their product and creating hype.

Don't know if this is old news or not but Duchene is out of the running.

Oh we knew, just didn't want to acknowledge it.

That's it, I'm not buying the game. I voted a bunch of times on twitter just because I wanted to believe my votes would in fact count. This is how EA's NHL games work anyway:

1. Try playing the game like it was a real hockey game. -> Get frustrated.
2. Go online with the same mentality -> Play against a player who knows how to abuse the game -> More frustration
3. Learn to abuse it and hate yourself for it

The game doesn't allow much room for creativity and the AI is dumb, you can fool it easily if you learn to do it. But that's not hockey.

You're right, but it's a video game and no simulation is ever going to be able to replicate the real thing. That's just the way it is and always will be.

I've played FIFA 13 a little and it felt great. The gameplay felt very smooth. But I haven't played it enough to make a review. I've played NHL games my whole life so I know all the flaws.

After you play the FIFA and NBA 2K games, you realize just how bad the NHL games are.

The only way to get anything out of NHL games is to play in competitive 6v6 leagues.

HUT was good until they made players careers last forever and didn't allow training cards to last. Last year i put so much time and effort into my hut that I had a team full of junior players but were all in 90's overall. This year unless you have a stacked team of NHL players your hut will suck.

According to EA Sports, the difference in votes between Duchene and Hall were less than 100.

I smell BS but even if that was true, the main reason fans didn't vote as much as they could is because they don't trust the vote.
