I don't expect a warm welcome. Its very rare. We had one for Eddie, for Leetch, for Graves, but I don't think Gaborik will qualify if Jagr didn't. You have to really be a savior. Of this team, probably only Lundqvist would be greeted kindly.
Agreed. Gaborik having the charisma of a sofa isnt going to help his cause.

If I sunk my money into the NHL and actually went to games, I'd imagine my reaction to Gabby's return would be similar to most: indifferent.

If he left for top dollar, Drury style at the end of next year, I think he'd get the tar booed out of him, myself.

Now that's fantasyland, you know perfectly well the Ranger's will overpay him before that would happen

Dubi and AA will get cheered, until they score against us every game as is tradition for the players we trade.

If only Nash was a skilled goal scorer instead of just being an all-around talent.

Scrub couldn't even manage a hat trick against the Leafs!

Gaborik wouldn't take the game by the balls the way Nash did tonight

Given what has transpired so far, it is undeniable that Gaborik is the better playoff performer.
I still say Nash is injured, and he will eventually be fine, but this should make it crystal clear that injuries affect top players equally.
Gaborik was labelled "enigmatic" "floater" "soft" but he kept delivering goals, which is something the team needs more of.

I think its pretty silly to say this after 6 games.

The comparisons were made few games after Gaborik was dealt, it was not silly then, but it is silly now? Interesting take.

I take Nash 10 times out of 10 over whatever is left of Marian Gaborik. He is a great guy, but he looks more done than Richards.

That doesn't mean I'm not terribly disappointed with Nash's play in the POs so far.

At this point in their careers...Nash over Gabby 100 times out of 100.

I still think it is unfair to compare Gaborik to Nash as playoff performers. Nash has played 10 playoff games in his career. I would rather have Nash in the playoffs. He is a big guy who grinds it out. That is what the playoffs are about.

The comparison was Nash vs. Gaborik as Rangers.

By last month, we had plenty of sample size with Gaborik and a pretty good sample size of Nash as a Ranger, 40+ games.

You're basing their playoff performances after Nash's first 6 games as a Ranger.

So, yes, it is silly right now.

Nash is still a wild card. It's quite evident he hasn't really figured out how to acclimate to playoff hockey. The more playoff experience for him, the better.

Question is, is Nash capable of adjusting to a style of play that is more conducive to being successful in the playoffs? He has the potential to be decent if he uses his teammates more and embraces the physical nature of the playoffs. If he continues to do what he is doing by trying to split the defense and overhandle the puck, he won't be.

So the comparison should not count the playoffs, because it's a small sample size? Yet, you all jumped on Gaborik last season eventhough he only had a small sample size in the playoffs as a ranger.
You know what's silly, the double standards you use.

Tis true.

Nash is a perennial loser. He is being outscored by Brian Broiler.

To be crystal clear, I have no issue with Nash and I am confident he will regain his scoring touch, he is too talented not to.
My beef is with how this board views european players, they are quick to label them "soft", enigmatic".

Yes, who can forget that first round performance in 2003?

Gaborik has 1 goal and 0 assists in 10 Conference Finals games in his career. In his last 41 playoff games, going back to Game 6 of the West Semi-Finals in 2003, he has 9 goals and 9 assists.

Nash's performance has been troubling so far, but this is still a no contest for me.
