Sanguinetti has also been named an alternate captain for the second straight year by the Attack.

I would imagine that if, by some small chance, Bobby Ryan stuck with the Ducks, Sanguinetti would take the C.

Quick update:

Ryan Russell had a big game tonight in a 8-4 loss, he scored a goal and assisted on the 2 others and was named the 3rd star of the game. He was one of only 2 players on the team to end up a +1 on the night.

Sanguinetti got another assist tonight in the 4-3 win and leads all defenseman with 4 points in 2 games...very very very early on in the season obviously.

Mike Sauer's team got there a** handed to them tonight in a 9-0 loss. It looks like the WinterHawks are going to have a terrible season and be one of the worst teams in the WHL....im sure they wish they still have Dubinsky with them.

Depending on your profession, you may have more time! What is your major?

Got back from the HFD preseason game...pretty much all AHL rookies, tryout players and then Jessiman and Graham played in it. Pack lost 4-3 in OT on a soft goal by the backup goalie (forgot his name). Holt played the first 2 periods and he was very very good.

Jessiman had a great game i thought, he was snakebit a bit and I think he could have had a goal or two..but he was easily the best pack player on the ice.

Callahan also had a very good game, he was great on the PK, didnt look that nervous. Was named the 3rd star of the game.

Nobody else really stood out at all, I guess a lot has to do with nerves being in their first AHL game.

The worst went to Byers, Nightengal (sp?), and Purinton. Byers scored the first could on a rebound but was in the box all night taking peanlties. The same can be said with Night and Purinton...all having at least 3 minors to put the team down a man or two.

He lost. Graham was getting a penalty for goalie interference (even though he was pushed into the goalie) then as play was leaving TWO Tiger players surrounded him and started cheap shotting him up in the face and one dropped the gloves so he was pretty much forced to drop the gloves. He didnt get a punch off but props for at least dropping the gloves. There was 4-5 fights in the first period then zero after that.

Kveton and Zaborsky, score got dammit score!

Its so important for these latter bloomers that they get a good start. I am also not so sure playing in the CHL always is the best option for Europeans. In some cases its obvious that it was, in some that it wasn't. But often allot of time is spent on just adjusting to the CHL, there is a big diffrence between the CHL and the AHL/NHL.

A forward that learns how to play to score 1.5 pts per game in the CHL, often don't have much use of that in the NHL, unless their is a abundace of skill to back it up. There are many ways to "cheat" in the CHL. In Europe thats harder, at the same time its possible to miss the entire part of whats the game is all about over here...

Maybe I am biased, but there do seem like there are less late round picks from Europe who makes it to the NHL, then it is if they stay at home.

The other fights were just tryout players, Dale got into one and won. Callahan almost got into a fight as well.

Now I have some EXCLUSIVE photos from yesterdays game, enjoy:

Cant find any either. I couldnt even hear who got assists because the PA system was horrible. Byers, Bahensky and Callahan got the Pack goals though.

I only remember Dale and Graham fighting, the 2 other fights were int he corner so it was hard to see who they were and again the PA system didnt help. They were tryout players though.

It was a pretty decent fight. I'd give the edge that big Tiger player though, but Hoffman got a few good shots in, especially with his left hand toward the end of the fight.

Don't know if I can say if he can play or not. But he is somewhat of a natrual "ball" talent.

In the 2nd game against NJD Hoffman made a few really suprising moves. Like in one situation where he came in on a 1 on 2, he pulled a move I've seen in Europe some, but only by Theo Fleury in the NHL, where he flips the puck up in the air and then strikes it past the D's. He didn't really pull it off, but its not something that I expected see a 65 goon try.

I think he, or Lessard, are good fits in HFD. I think Hoffman probably never will make it to the NHL, but at the same time you never know. He defenitly have more natural talent in him then most goons, but I don't really got a opinion on how his game is in general.

Wednesday Night Update

Marc-Andre Cliche for the 2nd game in a row scored a paired of goals. Lewiston won 5-3, one of Cliche's goals was a shorthanded empty net goal.

Ryan Russell scored a goal in 6-3 loss and was wearing the C for the first time, the team usually went with 3 or 4 A's. I haven't seen a formal announcement though if he has permanently been named captain of the team.

Brodie Dupont also had a goal tonight in a 5-2 loss.

Bobby Sanguinetti scored a goal tonight as well in a 6-3 win. He is tied in first in points & goals early on in the season among defensemen in the OHL.

Cliche might be on his way to the same kind of development we saw out of Dubinsky last year. He's got 2nd line RW written all over him.
