One problem with all that, not totally convinced he becomes the perfect 13th forward that comes and does those things.

What offensive talent is everyone pointing to? Did I miss some key goals in preseason and the last 21 games of the season?

Not trying to convince anyone of anything but if we're going to point to results, I want to know where I should start looking?

Come on, MU, that is not what the issue is and you know it. There is no problem with him being the 13th forward. Better him than a Greg Moore. There is not even a problem if he splits the time with Orr as the 4th line RW, until Ortmeyer gets back. There IS a problem if he is anything more than that. And that is because of the way that Renney seems to be using him and used him last year. The majority of the time, when he was in the lineup, he was NOT used as the 4th line player he is. Heck, down the stretch, there were more than enough instances when he played with better players on the 2nd line, while Prucha was playing with Betts on the 3rd. You talk of his offensive talen, but what good is it? Let's recall that Lundmark has offensive talent as well, but this board could not wait to get him out of the lineup. Hossa's talent and ability has added up to exactly zilch.

You say he has defensive talent. But is his defensive play any better than that of Hall or Ward or even Ortmeyer or Hollweg? No. When Hollweg was used to kill penalties, he did it solidly. However, I am not here preaching just what a fantastic penalty killer he is.

You say that he uses his size. Does he use it better than Hollweg or Ortmeyer or Ward? No.

What does all of this add up to? That, he is a good 13th forward to have. But anything more than that, or if he is used as anything more than that for prolonged periods of time, and all of his warts become exposed. Nobody "hates" him. We would all LOVE for him to become something more. However, the past history has not been an indicator that he is anything more than a bubble player. And that becomes a problem if he is used as anything but such a player.
