Have been sorta stoked about him since we drafted him. I seem to remember a lot of posters casually dismissing him at the time, too. Knew he would build a bit of experience at the pro level over there before jumping into the NHL grind, so wasn't worried about the delay. It's a pattern for success that should work out best for everyone involved, given the confidence he must be riding after being awarded the Eliteserien's trophy for top defenseman.

Thank you for that. Was really interested in knowing how to pronounce his name properly, and I was pretty sure it wasn't "N-eye-gren".

Good news!

I was confused by his drafting - an overager PP specialist, but Rockstrom knows what he's doing and apparently other teams had interest too. He's gotten significantly better since then.

I always knew Subban should be paired with Nygga...
...

Okay, okay. I will never make that joke again.

Pretty stoked to have him he's relatively big and has a good shot on the right side.

Hockey future says he has limited mobility. Someone care to go into deeper details?

Also, what is needed for him to cross over the Atlantic? Does he have a restrictive contract?

Yeah, how disappointing that we signed a 6" 190lbs + d-man that just won the award for best Defender in the SEL.

Shame....

Erik Karlsson is a "small, non physical D". I guess you wouldn't want the Habs to sign him either?

Best non-foreign defenseman.

Very nice. Also good for Hamilton, since he's got a lot of pro experience, he's going to make our farm team a bit more mature.

How tall are you to call 6'1" "small"?

He's listed at 6'0 and that is pushing it, if you've seen him play.

I am, and his play is nowhere near the same as Karlsson's...

He's listed as 6'1" here, so...?

Nevertheless, 6'0 is still pretty okay. Similar to Subban. Damn, Subban is quite the smurf.

So what's your point? You are upset that Montreal signed their draft pick or....you just want Montreal to draft and sign huge d-men?

Nygren was a great draft pick and a good signing.

You seem to be whining just for the sake of whining.

Similar to Diaz and we have TOO MANY of the same type of D-men.

I never said he was as good or close to Karlsson. I said that just because he is "small and nonphysical" does not mean that he shouldn't be signed or given a shot.

Not saying that, but it's hardly something to get excited about.

Seriously dude, I take your meaning but as long as we ice a D-core that has a good mix of PMDs, size, toughness and physicality, even if we do it by trade here and there, its cool. Being deep with skilled PMDs is a good thing, not bad. When you are deep with a kind of player you can trade to get another kind of player you do not have, and the skilled ones pretty much always get the highest value. Right now we have on the roster 3 PMDs in PK, Markov and Diaz, with Nathan B on the way. This gives MB the ability of moving one of these guys, Im thinking Diaz, for a crease clearer D-man.

Did you mean that you were happy with the signing in this post?

If so, then forget what I said since I misunderstood your post. I thought you were being sarcastic.
