Nobody on the Stars will be bought out. They will probably make a big splash in the market of players who get bought out (thinking Briere for a lot cheaper, Richards for a lot cheaper)

If Volchenkov isn't amnestied, I'll start a riot.

The guy is borderline NHL caliber and I'd say he's on the same level as Derian Hatcher was before he retired.

Give him a orange jersey and he'd be the closest thing to a actual cone as you'd get.

I doubt Calgary will buy anyone out. Stajan seemed like a no-brainer before the season, but he played hard and had a great year, so there's no sense in getting rid of him for free now.

There's pretty much no way the Caps buy out Ward. He's done what he was brought in to do. If they wanted to get rid of him, I believe they could pretty easily find a trade partner.

I could be wrong but doesn't Briere want to be close to home?

Briere stands to make way more cash being bought out and picking the city he wants to play then have his fate be put in Philly's hands. If I was put in Briere's situation I would say hey let me pick the city I want to go to and whatever they offer you(ie a 7th rounder) is all you are going to get else buy me out. I think that's the fair thing to do given how much cash Philly has already gave him.

Given the amount of teams that won't want that 6.5M caphit and the limited list of teams Briere probably will accept trades to I see him being bought out(I am guessing their will be alot of teams saying hey we don't want the caphit but if you get bought out we will give you a 3 year 9-12M dollar deal).

I don't see the Preds buying anyone out.

The only guy on the roster who's grossly overpaid is Paul Gaustad, but I think Trotz/Poile just really like what this guys brings to the team, and they're not hurting for cash or cap space, will probably just keep him around.

Keith Ballard - Would guess fairly likely, unless there is a coaching change in which case who knows
David Booth - Still has a few years at 4.2 million, if the Canucks can move Luongo and don't pick anybody up then it's possible he stays (or if they can find a trade)
Roberto Luongo - Very unlikely, only as a last resort if no teams want him, and the Canucks can't move enough salary to keep him.

Briere's current contract could be advantageous to cap-floor, tight-budget teams because he is owed $3 mil and $2 mil over the next 2 seasons, while still carrying that $6.5 mil cap hit.

Your point is still valid about the small (if any) number of teams that fit in that Venn diagram of wanting him/his contract and him wanting them.

Well their is only 1 team close to Philly that fits that description

My theory is if Briere becomes a UFA though the 2 most likely teams he signs with are NJ or Detroit(but both those teams will shy away from the caphit)

I'm hoping Komisarek and Connolly. I would like to keep Liles. We need a Center who can win a faceoff.

Leino.

I could see him signing with the flyers on a cheap deal too!

Only possibilities from the Flames are Tanguay, Babchuk, and potentially Sarich. I don't any of them get bought out though. Not much incentive for the Flames to do it.

Based on his performance last year Stajan is a bargain.

I was thinking Tanguay possibly, but the Flames won't have cap issues, so I'm not sure a buyout would make a lot of sense.

I could definitely see Dallas buying out Erik Cole. Has been an complete and utter failure here.

Add that to the list of times Nieuwendyk has been bent over and absolutely ***** by other GMs.

Michael Ryder AND a 3rd for Erik Cole...smh...

Not a chance the Caps buy out Ward. He was one of the better players in the playoffs this year and last. He does exactly what you want of him.

Jeff Schultz will be, though. And some GM will overpay him because he's tall.

Leino is the only possibility on the Buffalo roster, but I think he'll be kept around for at least another year. Most Buffalo posters seem to be thinking the same thing because this team won't be a contender next year and cap space shouldn't be an issue.

DiPietro?

Or does Wang leave that for the next owner?
