HFBoards needs a tagging system like Reddit. Tag a poster as a troll, never take their opinion seriously again.

In regards to Kessel, he stepped up against his former team these playoffs. Definitely got the monkey off his back, it's just a damn shame we couldn't win it. He played well, and has nothing to be ashamed of, he proved his critics wrong.

Phil stepped up in this series with that giant freak Chara in his face almost all the time. 2 game winners, and should have been 3 game winners barring that ridiculous and pathetic collapse.

One word: elite.

Don't think we'll be catching any flack for that trade now. What a series from Kessel.

I have to say I've been down on Kessel for a while and have advocated trading him on a number of occasions, but he really showed me a lot this series. Get him a real top line center and watch out.

I expect an article from Damien tomorrow exclaiming how this is the perfect time to trade Phil.

And Davet has moved on to Phaneuf now, and based on his evaluations thus far, I'd say Phaneuf is a keeper.

On TSN Hockey2Nite they had a segment asking if Toronto can win with Kessel as a core piece. He scored in the clutch, played two-way hockey and wasn't afraid to get physical when needed. Not to mention this was all done against Boston. Toronto media sure does love to point fingers and give reasoning later.

To think when we re-sign Kessel long term, Boston would have face him time and time again.

Just watch, Kessel will be the Bruins kryptonite for the next 7 plus years. Free Kessel -- get him a real centre, Nonis!

This series was the best thing that could have happened to Kessel. He has no reason to fear them any more and the questions (should) stop. If anything people should now start to question Tyler Seguin. Phil showed up big time and I think earned some of the Bruins respect too. #thankyoukessel.

Blind Hatred? I call blind biased stupidity if fans think Dion is a 6.5M dollar defenceman. Wow.....mediocrity is not only accepted in Toronto..it is actually demanded.

Well this is a big EFF YOU to those people who said kessel would crumble in the playoffs against a defensive team.

6 points, 4 goals, 2 game winning goals.

I don't know what else he could have done besides knocking down chara, Oh wait...

We resign him. He went up another gear against Boston, and will be an invaluable piece on a Leafs team should we ever be in the position to make a deep run.

Man, imagine what it would've been like if Kessel played with Sundin at his prime...
We need a decent centre so bad.

Kessel is not the problem. Never was. Never will be. Reimer is not the problem. Never was. Never will be. Lupul/JVR/Kadri/McClement not the problem...never were and never will be. The problem is behind the blue line. For the last 10 years. Reimer saved these shmucks with stellar play. The giveaway machine was bailed out all series long. Reimer couldn't do it last night though. Only so far a good goalie can take an abysmal defence. The offense is in better shape than the D...for sure.

Kessel needs to be re-signed. Thats all.

Phil was great this series. I hope Nonis signs him this summer before he puts up a PPG+ season again.

I'm sure he'll be the biggest signing on July 5th this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see 7 years at 7.5
