CHANGING OF THE GUARD IN LA LA LAND

Dustin Brown
Slava Voynov
Jake Muzzin
Tyler Toffoli
2nd Round Pick

Erik Karlsson (25% retained)
Milan Michalek (25% retained)
Zack Smith

It was tough to trade the captain, our heart and soul for years. Also, tough pill to swallow trading away a young gem like Voynov and a few nice looking young players in Muz and TT. But to add an all-world Defensman in Karlsson, along with a top end sniper in Milan plus some bottom 6 depth in Smith, tough to turn away.

Florida is very happy to have added 3 draft picks in a deep draft
this is so much underpayment that just...idk. But, rebuilders gonna rebuild I guess.

Confirm the trade with LA. We love Karlsson, but we feel that Voynov and Muzzin are ready to step up and fulfill top pairing minutes and production, which will soften the loss (as well as already having Gonchar). Michalek is a good player, but we feel Brown is a better fit in our organization along with Neil. Trading away Smith was hard, but we feel the 2nd was worth it.

Don't talk about underpayment when you trade Karlsson and Michalek for Voynov and Brown.

Are you serious? You literally sold Karlsson for scraps.

Brown hasn't even scored 60 points more than once, and when he did it was exactly 60. That trade is way better than yours.

How so? Brown is a captain, is arguably one of the best all round forwards in the game, can score, and is extremely physical. His defensive stats aren't to shabby either. He hits an awful lot for someone who puts up around 50 points every year and is the most consistent person to have 250+ hits and 50 points each year.

Voynov is a good PMD who looks like he has a good future ahead of him and can soften the blow of losing such a good OFD as Karlsson. Muzzin led all defenseman in Corsi this year. Toffoli is a very good prospect right now and will have a chance to make an impact on OTT's 3rd line.

Michalek is a streaky, injury prone sniper. I don't think his upside is all that high when we have Conacher, Silfverberg, etc who can step in and produce as much as him.

And yeah, Karlsson is a top 5 defenseman in the league, and is worth more than Voynov + Muzzin + Toffoli + 2nd, but I wanted to make a deal. Having Gonchar doesn't hurt either.

Karlsson is the best D in the league, otherwise he wouldnt win the norris..

This is about where I stopped reading. Bryce Salvador is a captain too. Does that boost his value? There's not much to say about the trade, but don't try to defend it by making arguments like that.

no, hes value doesnt boost up just becuase he is captain material also, You traded NHLs best defender for a guy who is making 50 pts. and you also let go a top 6 winger when is healthy.

no offense but i can't really understand what you're saying.

If you guys want to flame me, continue. I've already stated my reasoning and you guys have all covered the points that I've given. I keep on seeing people saying points, points, points, but points aren't everything. No big deal though. I'm pretty happy with the trade.
