Joe Mich was aight.

Listen, we don't have JD anymore, its a big loss, no matter who
comes in he's gonna hear it from the FANS. The real annoying fans who
criticize a job they'd more than likely be horrible at.

It could be MUCH worse. Ever see any Philly games on TV?

We were spoiled with JD and now we have to take what we got,
at least Sam's still around.

Look, I have no issue with Hossa sharing the 12th/13th forward spot with Orr. It makes sense to let the younger guys get more time in Hartford and Hossa is a good depth guy to have at the end of a roster.

But excellent defensive player? That's crazy talk..

And its even cuter when you make MSG demographic jokes.
And THAT is why you are the BIG TOE of this board.

No i've never seen a Philly game, but I forgot what the team was, possibly the Pred's. I was watching I guess Adam Halls highlight goals, and there was no effort what so ever in the announcing. It was as monotone as , they shoot, they score, preds x other team x. I agree JD spoiled us, but we are new yorkers most of us, we expect the best

I just get the feeling he's got a sheet infront of him with pre-written comments - he seems to know nothing of what he speaks and that bothers me.

But his best and only noteworthy attribute is pugilism. The Rangers need to know they have the guns if necessary. Listen, I'm not TBBB, but he hasn't show that this preseason yet. And trust me, there are plenty of other fighters on other teams that are chomping at the bit to get a piece of him in the preseason.

Simply put, I just want one good fight showing to remind Renney and the fans why he's here. Much of the praise on this board is a tad overinflated at this point.

As for the centering passes in the Islander game, let's downgrade it to 1 play. Many posters here mimic whatever an announcer says. Over the years, you could attribute 40% of all insight on Ranger forums as JD parrotting. If you don't believe me, count the number of times in the next few days people will be championing the idea of a Ward-Tyutin pairing.

On one play, Orr did fight and grind the puck out and make a play. The other was overly generous of a Micheletti call. The puck was left free and the passing lane (and blown assignment on Helminem) was hockey 101. I'm not throwing a parade for that. The credit he clearly deserves is for being hungry and willing to work. I'll always applaud a player with those desires and I hope a skillset can follow.

Ok, time to edit the game video and pass out...
Orr jumped right in and fought Janssen immediately in the NJ game... Sure it wasn't a long fight but he started throwing bombs right away and Janssen didn't even have time to set up... Is that enough for you?

I've been watching the games at the bar without any sound so I can only comment on what I've seen and not what I've heard.... Those 2 passes to Helminen were nice for a player like Orr.... Sure it's an everyday thing for more talented players but from a low skill guy, that was noteworthy....

I'm glad everyone is so happy with his different look this season, but if you watch the tape, it's still Ryan Hollweg banging bodies. Colton Orr has yet to show that he's still a heavyweight after his weight loss (and no the Janssen fight doesn't count). I'm not doubting it, but I need to see it.

Because with all honestly, who on this board would be championing him if he didn't fight. A fringe NHL/AHL player like Garth Murray would bring more of a complete game and grit than what Orr has to offer now. And don't get me started on his Krzysztof Oliwa-esque balance.

Not trying to start another "Orr is god" debate, but if he was a player with no rep, his skillset would of had him cut from the team a week ago.
Great post. He'll be fine physically, I think he was trying to focus heavily on showing how much more he could do (other than fight), and he did his job well. He also seemed to gel on that 4th line with Hollweg as his C, so I see them together on that 4th line

We are only going to be playing Orr occasionally anyway and I'm not a big Orr supporter but he has made a marked improvement even if his skating and skillset still lags behind. If he makes the squad he's the 14th forward. If he doesn't then--and someone like Moore makes it then Renney should do more juggling in and juggling out so all the players get a decent amount of playing time.
Orr will make it. He showed his other side just like every one wanted him to do, and he finally looks like a very good NHL "fighter" and 4th liner, and considering how well he played with Hollweg, I think you'll see them together

I think we are gooing to see more of

Dawes-Betts-Hall
Hossa-Hollweg-Ward
or
Hall-Betts-Ward
Hollweg-Immonen-Hossa

then variations with Orr in the lineup.
That makes sense, but I'm sure Renney and alot of others are aware that Orr is a much more useful NHL 4th liner than Hossa

I love the insult but you are not the big toe of this board....

Anyway if anybody else said he wasn't an excellant defensive player I'd get into it and I would say what else do you want from a defensive player?

But somebody that gets to watch 16 games a year can't say if Hossa is a bad, good, or excellant defensive player...

Hossa is the 13th forward and ahead of guys on the depth chart because he can play that role and play it well...

I think excellent is going a bit too far too, but...

it's very subjective. But just remember, when Hossa is on a fourth line he is going against other fourth liners. Excellent would be a relative term to mean he's excellent at stopping guys who have trouble offensively anyways. The interesting thing is that Hossa is more skilled than 99% of the fourth liners out there, so he should have an advantage, but 2 points in his last 20+ games, and the vast majority of posters thought he played realy well, which with Hossa means he didn't suck.

Big toe?

Heavily stubbed I assume..

And while we're on feet, that holy trilogy is short one Fletch and one Slapshot.

I know that ruins the whole trilogy thing, but it still makes more sense than someone calling Hossa an excellent defensive player, and harping on some demographic horse **** that renders me unable to see about 8 games out of 82. Which are still availble to through my XM..

I mean you are a madman..

Remember the time when you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow? I want to party with you, cowboy. The two of us together, forget it.
