Those ranking are really good for the Flyers.

1st Rd #11 Pulock or Nurse
2nd Rd # 41 Hartman, Bailey or Morin. Michael McCarron is another interesting guy at that pick.
3rd Rd # 71 Keaton Thompson or Tyler Hill

I would be happy with any one of those players at those picks. Then the Flyers could load up on college defensemen like Connor Clifton, Wiley Sherman, Parker Reno, and or Mark Yanis from the 5th rd on. Maybe throw in another goalie prospect either in college or overseas, someone with a 4 year window to sign, and that would be a great draft.

Has anyone ever subscribed to Hockey Prospectus? I didn't even know it existed until I read it in this thread. Is it worth it? Is there a draft preview in paper form or is it all online?

id be pumped if we could get Rychel in the 2nd round, or local boy Jimmy Lodge.

I currently do not subscribe, but it is a site dedicated to advanced stats so you have to be into that for the subscription to be worth it. They put out their draft information for free online. They are not a scouting service.

My wish list:

Round 1- Ristolainin or Pulock (assuming Nurse is gone)
Round 2- Nicolas Petan, Kerby Rychel or Justin Bailey.
Round 3- Justin Bailey or Jordan Subban if one of them slips, if not Eric Roy or Ryan Kujawinski.
No 4th rounder
2 picks in Round 5- Spencer Martin and Eric Comrie
Round 6- Andrei Mironov or Jonny Brodzinski
Round 7- Charlie Graham, Mike Vlajkov or Ben Harpur

Here's something that I'll throw out here. I also post on Orange and Black dot net and a question came up about dealing for Pietrangelo. Someone had posted that they would give up Coburn, Voracek and a pick for Pietrangelo. I posted a question of:

Would you give up the 11th for John Carlson?

One poster replied no freakin' way. So, here's a question for all of you - if the Capitals were to blow things up, would you consider moving the 11th for Carlson?

In a heartbeat. But I don't see the Capitals trading a proven 23 year old defenseman for the #11 pick.

No. I still think we can get a better player than Carlson with that pick. Note: this does not preclude me from offering a different opinion on the O&B!

Haven't subscribed to it, although I'll get their 2013-14 season preview, but their free online content is excellent.

We might, but Carlson is far, far, far lower risk. Caps wouldn't do that deal regardless. They'd sooner make Green available.

It is far from certain that anyone available at 11 ends up better than Carlson.

It is almost completely certain that they won't be better than him for 4+ years.

I'd do that deal.

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Carlson
Gusfasson-Grossmann
(Meszaros)

id do the 11th for Carlson, but I cant see Washington doing it. if they are going to blow it up other more expensive players go. Like Green. If Green was available I hope the Flyers stay far, far away.

The only thing about green that scares me is his hip issues. Other than that he would be an awesome player for us, and he had a great year. I always use to rag on him for his defensive play nominating him for selke trophy and such but he had a great year this year and the caps are a different team when he is off the ice.

I would do the deal but Washington won't. The Capitals are not blowing up anything; they are adding. They just traded their top prospect, Filip Forsberg, for Martin Erat. Picks and prospects, which include Couturier and B. Schenn, won't be getting a young established defenseman unless for a severe overpayment.

I think the most interesting pick in this draft is number 5. I really wonder what Carolina will do. They are in position to take bpa, draft for d or F, trade the pick , or even trade up.

Flyers are pretty good at drafting gems from the QMJHL, though.
