Our top prospect Scheifele is #33 on hockeysfuture.
I like hockey's future for individual assessments... but due to their methods in how they produce their lists, they are really just a waste of time to read or get worked up about.
There is absolutely zero consistency in how consolidate these resources... I could go on but ya...
Basically there are a lot of lists out there that I may or may not agree with but at least they are consistent and you know why they ordered it in a particular fashion (one example: Hockey Prospectus), but HF when they seem to bring the team's info together seems more like a throw **** at the wall and see what sticks method.
I'm not as high on Rielly as most on here, and certainly not as high as Leafs fans. He has a very high ceiling but also has some questions about his defensive game. Not very physical and only probably average for a top pairing CHLer defensively. Outside of him and Kadri (who doesn't count as a prospect) I see little potential top line, or even top 6 talent in the Leafs prospect pool. Hence the 'meh'
3 more days and we lose Yuen and Brassard. I am completely perplexed as to how Yuen does not have a contract.
Same. He is such a smooth skater and he is very smart defensively. Even if they think he is a bit of a long shot for the NHL, he has upside and AHL level defensive depth is a problem. Perhaps Chevy is disappointed that he didn't grow another couple inches.
I would be very disappointed if we do not sign Yuen
I think he has done enough to warrant an ELC and to see if he can develop in St. John's.
I think we also traded up in the draft to select this guy; also would seem to go against the "draft and develop" philosophy if we give up on prospects who would seem to still have potential
As for Brassard, he has not really shown any significant improvement that has been consistent or effective; I would only offer him an ATO or AHL contract, and if he does not accept then I would let him walk.
