I don't want to guess what type of point totals JJ can put up in his career, but I do love his skating, and he does seem to fit that Deboer forechecking game. Really hope that offensive ineptness we saw this past season was just a phase.

And neither of them play center either.

We'll never be able to play him with Kovy unless they put him back on LW.
Can he play C?

I don't think either of them play center. Kovy definitely doesn't, and I'm pretty sure Tikhonov never has.

I think we are all in agreement that the way the young players are treated on this team is detrimental to their development. We all say that Larsson makes the same mistakes that Salvador, or any other dman on the Devils, makes. There has to be a reason why the coaching staff benches the young players over the vets. The only thing I can think of is that the coaches think (or see) young players make more of those mistakes. I dont know if that is true or not, but I am trying to think of an objective reason. Why was Henrique given more responsibilities than those other young players? Why was Fayne given so much more time last year?

I actually think guys make too much of it. Ted's was awful last year, and then after a short stint got sent down, and then injured. JJ has been given plenty of op's, but he too was lousy this year.

Fayne played less this year then last, but this Tallinder was out most of last year, and some say the wrist was a factor in less playing time. and as u say Henrique is given all the minutes he could ask for.

I think as fans, the biggest problem we have is with Larsson getting benched. Dont think we care as much about Teddy or Jojo

As for Sal. I think Deboer painted himself into a corner when he gave him the C. Instead of a balanced rotation where everyone get's a day off here and there, now only certain guys are in that rotation.

And u know, I just looked at games played, both Sal and Volch played under 40 games. Greene and Zid's went 48 each, every other d-man was below 40.

There has been Ted's debate going in here for sometime.

Fayne arguments as well.

Well Larsson was a higher pick and has proven more (already) than either of those two. People usually ***** about one or the other (Teddy/YaYo) and then bag the other guy in the process, which I find fascinating. Really both have been dissapointments thus far. Josefson at least looked like he was on the right track until this year though.

I feel like that is because as Devils fans, we want the futures to succeed and therefore don't want to think that two consecutive 1st round picks were total failures but I could be wrong, its just my way of looking at it as a whole.

Yes he can, he has in the past, and I believe he played at center with Kovalchuk on the LW towards the later stages of the lockout.

I totally agree here, but what if Clarkson goes bye bye? Who could play on the right wing? We have many lefties on the team and farm, but little righties. Pete and his leftie-rightie thing...

Tikhonov has been awesome for SKA in the KHL playoffs. I don't see think he ever played this well before.

That is true - but ALOT of the players blossoming from that year or previous years were written off by their teams and then came up with a different team and now are stalwarts.

...which probably lends credence to the argument that some folks here make that Tedi might someday be an NHL regular, but it may not be with us.

Unfortunately, in his case, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we had Elias, Parise, and Kovy at his natural LW position - and he has had no role to step into, except on the 4th line.

Let's hope Tedenby isn't another Bergfors. I know drafting swedes is the new cool thing this days, but we can clearly see a lot of em are too soft to play in NHL.

Bergfors has a 20 goal season under his belt. If we could get just one of those from ted's I'd be stoked.

Where was Berg's this past season? KHL again?

Bergfors had a good rookie year and helped net us Kovalchuk

I PRAY TO GOD that Tedenby turns into something like that.

The future of Tedenby.....

Just wondering if he will be in the NHL soon? Seems like he's made a step back ......

What are your thoughts?

Deboer thinks the best way to teach him is bench him for every little mistake. Tedenby plays scared now that no matter what he does he will be benched, has 0 confidence. I think he can be a successful NHLer but not with Deboer as coach

I don't like the guy at all. I'm actually hoping he goes to the SEL so that Lou is not tempted to make him David Clarkson's replacement next season like he did for Parise this one.

I will say this much though.

Pete had an incredibly short leash with this dude this past season. People have been complaining about it ever since Pete became coach about how hard he was on Tedenby. After seeing his reluctance to start Kinkaid or Frazee, and constant scratching of Fayne and Larsson (That's on Lou also for giving him the keys by keeping all the defensemen), and then playing floating space debris over Josefson I can finally say people might have been on to something with that gripe.

I'm hoping Tedenby stays and continues to get chances, but I also hope Lou learned from last season that he (and the rest of our kids, for that matter) isn't someone who can be counted on to fill a pretty big need at forward.

But really, I hope Lou trades him ASAP because I'm tired of people asking about him.
