Archambault, Pribyl and Walsh are left to sign before we lose/release their rights.

Out of them only Pribyl seems worth while.

I would say Walsh, good size and skating, injuries have derailed his development.

Archambault is a very fast skater and talent to burn, has a much greater chance of putting his game together IMHO. Danny is a very talented player and needs some real work to get his skating up to par for the AHL first. Walsh is really injury prone but could be a 3rd liner possibly, if he wasn't so brittle (NCAA hockey) isn't any where near as tough as the AHL/NHL.

Why can't we sign all three? Avtsin and Berger are gone. Not like we have a shortage of contracts.

The way Timmins bragged about Archambault, why wouldn't he be contracted?

My thought, exactly. Anyway is not like the guy is 24 or something... He made good progress in the juniors.

An 1 year try-out AHL contract for Archambault would be the best case scenario (like Desharnais in the past). We don't want to be stuck with useless 2-way contract like Lefebvre.

I would think that Timmins expected Archambault to achieve more than he has since being drafted.

Don't remember any bragging.

He said he had a lot of potential, which is quite true. But he had a high bust potential too.

Ideally they would give him a two-way AHL/ECHL contract, and start him in the East coast if need be.

I hope they do. But I also hope they keep him close to them.

Bragging would be the wrong word..Timmins certainly thought Archie was underrated in the past.

I don't think Walsh is going to be signed. Too bad - I liked him in his draft year, but playing in Dartmouth and being hurt so much...he played less games in his collegiate career than some London Knights players do in a year.

I remember last year Grant posted Timmins' list of his top 20 habs prospects. Archambault was a lot higher than most of us had him (between 5 and 10 IIRC).

This whole thread then mysteriously disappeared...

It wasn't supposed to be posted, Timmins would have been mad at him.

Yeah that's what I thought. It's just the way it was done was funny since any mention of this thread were just deleted

Anyway, the only thing I remember from it is that Archambault was pretty high on his list.

He played well this year. Matched his goal totals and added 20 more assists in two less games. Improved his overall game and got stronger.

I'd say he's got the upside to be a top 6 forward. Barring an incredible showing in preseason (he also needs a contract), he'll more than likely stay with Kamloops for next season, and graduate to AHL the following one. I'd say he's probably still 2 or 3 years away.

Sounds about right, one more year of junior, then at least one year in the AHL.

Anyone have this list? I never saw it, and am curious about it. Or at least a top 5?

I don't think so, like I said, it disappeared. I probably shouldn't had brought it up.

The things standing in Bozon's way are pretty much the same as Hudon's: strength and skating.

Bozon's skating is good/above average but if he can drastically improve in that area he could be very close to an elite prospect.

Same thing with strength. He finishes his checks but they're very weak. He's got the frame to be pretty big. Well over 200.

If he can significantly improve one of these areas he can be a very solid top 6er. If he can significantly improve both then he could be a very very scary player.

I would have guessed that Archambault would get a contract, at least an AHL one, but I didn't think Walsh would as the recurring hip injury has to be a concern and Pribyl's skating I had doubts they would sign him.

I wouldn't lose sleep if none are signed.

Walsh's skating isn't that good imo, he looked slugish out there to me. too bad about the hip though as he can snipe and is tall so some Hab fans around here would instantly like him.

They can sign all 3, but they may have other things in mind. It's too bad none of the "media" thought to ask during the press conference.

Archambault is a bubble guy though, so it's easy to see why he wouldn't be contracted. For me I'd give him at least an AHL deal and put him in the ECHL to see how it goes. But he's so easily knocked off the puck and has holes in his all round game so if they don't sign it shouldn't be a big loss.

1. I thought he played well just about every time I saw him play this year. He knows what to do with the puck and where to be in the offensive zone, with good hands he should be able to put points on the board when he moves up to the AHL in 2014.

2. It's still very early in his development so we'll need to see how it goes for him when he hits the AHL after next season. I would think he'll be a few years away from the NHL at this point but hopefully he can work on filling out his frame and improving his lower body strength. At this point I would say his upside is a top 6 winger but how he handles the AHL will be much more telling.

You think that the pressure to get more Quebecers would start by signing the ones we've drafted. Archambault will be signed. And I do predict we let Walsh and Pribyl go.

Walsh is still a nice prospect though. If the Dogs weren't too young, I'd hope they'd sign him to a pro contract.
