Eberle for Ryan

Bobby Ryan adds size to Edmonton's top six. Jordan Eberle adds offense to The Ducks top six.

Neutral fan thinks this looks good for both sides. If anything was to be added from one side of the other it would be minor.

So Ducks trade Ryan for a less physical Ryan.

Don't see the motivation for the Ducks.

I don't get this deal for the Ducks? I get the reason for the Oilers

Spot on - no reason for the Ducks to do this. Besides, Eberle's new contract kicks in at $6M/yr vs. Ryan's $5.1M/yr.

If the Ducks decide to move Ryan, it will be for a 2C or Top 2 dman as the main piece. The team can't afford to have so much cap money tied up in their top 3 forwards (Getzlaf/Perry/Ryan: $22M for the next few years) when there are other needs.

Oilers fan here. I don't think this makes sense for Anaheim.

Also, for the oilers, its going to be tougher for them to trade a fan favourite who grew up an oilers fan... (although that shouldn't necessarily factor in)

Eberle probably becomes more consistent, that's why he got paid big.

Consistent offensive production = Wins

I don't think it makes sense for the Ducks but I was reading that they'd be open to move Ryan for Edler straight up, which has me perplexed because I would have imagined the Nucks would have had to add. So I think it's fair to say I don't know what the Ducks want for Ryan, either that or they are desperate for a partner for Fowler.

No. Lindholm plays the position we need the most - defense. He also moves the puck efficiently. I'd go as far as saying he's untouchable. Him and Gibson just aren't being traded

Tempting but no. As a fan who watched Norfolk until the season kicked in, I'd rather wait until Lindholm gets his lick in the NHL. Very responsible in his own zone. Quite a bit like Brodin, but maybe not quite on the same level.

As for Eberle, I'd be a little more tempted if it didn't mean taking on another 1 million.

6 years of Eberle vs. 2 of Ryan.

I'd pass even though Ryan is pretty much the type of player the Oilers could use.

Beachemin, Fowler, Sbisa, Allen, Souray in the fold and THAT's your #1 need?

How about a 2C? How about one that scored at a 65pt pace in a 2nd line role last year?

Ryan (30p in 46gp) for Gagner (38p in 48gp) and your 2nd round pick back from the Cogliano trade.

Sbisa, Allen are bottom pairing guys. Souray fell off the cliff late in the year. We have two good defenseman - Beauchemin and Fowler. That's it. The rest are pretty much 3rd pairing plugs.

If we trade Ryan, it will probably be for help on D (a defense partner for Fowler)

I feel he has 2nd-pairing potential, is he really that bad?

He was horrendous this year, in my opinion. I don't feel he's going to be anything more than a 3rd pairing guy. some Ducks fans disagree. Right now, though, we can all pretty much agree that he is a fringe 3rd pairing guy - just not a guy we should be relying on

Oilers wouldn't do this. If Eberle gets traded, its for a blue chip d-man, not a side step.

Ducks biggest strength right now is winfers and goaltending. We will likely attempt to improve centers and defense. Eberle make sense if we were trying to rebuild.
