There you go again with reason and logic.........If you want to fit in around here you will have to display more emotion and knee jerk reactions.

Like holy cow, really, oh its just another fast and skilled PMD who isn't big or physical so hit the Reject button. We may grow these guys like weeds lately but most teams don't. Like the man said, develop him or them, if we have too many, keep who you need and trade the others for what we do need.

Seriously, who cares? If he turns into a good player and doesn't fit.. trade him. It's better than just letting him walk.

Either way, he's YEARS away from the NHL. He fits in Hamilton for a year or two after his final year in Michigan, then we re-evaluate.
Exactly, the more the merrier. I don't get this train of thought either, let's wait and see what he becomes in the AHL first.

He played with Joe Sakic..long time ago

It's true that it's too early to evaluate him. In a year, when he'll be in Hamilton, we'll see what he can bring to the table.

Good article release on July 2012 on him unfortunately in French, good read though

here

Same situation as Nygren really. He doesn't fit a need right now, but you don't throw away legitimate talent because they aren't as physical as you'd like. Like Nygren a year from now we will get to evaluate him further in the AHL, and if Markov and Diaz are still with the team, then you consider trading one or both of them.

Besides Beaulieu (who is big and physical), the rest of the defenders in the system are physical stay at home types, so stop the panicking.

Since when is Beaulieu physical?

Saw him play 50 times in junior - that's not his game.

Bennett is going to be good.

Beaulieu hits. It's not the primary element of his game, but he won't get intimidated out there.

And that's besides the point since Beaulieu is another level entirely, the guys Nygren and Bennett will be competing for a spot with in a year or so - Pateryn, Thrower, Dietz, Ellis, Didier, Sullivan, are all either big, physical or both. The concern right now should be which of these guys are good enough to make the NHL, not who fits current needs.

The teams current need of a physical vet is completely irrelevant here.

He is not, and never has been considered a physical defenseman.

Bennett should be signed or not signed based on his NHL potential not based on the team's current needs. Having written that the Habs do not have any big defense prospects (besided Tinordi) and that includes ALL the guys that you mentioned.

Prospects' reported sizes are always suspect. The best source is from the official team site. Josh Gorges is listed as 6'1". The only taller prospect is Joe Stejskal (who is not going to make it) and Josiah Didier who are both 1 inch taller than Josh Gorges. None of these guys are taller than Emelin, Drewiske, or Pateryn who are all 1 inch taller than Gorges.

As far as physicality is concerned, many average size players lose their physicality when they join the big leagues.

The Habs have a major defence size deficit with their prospects.

Darren dietz, dalton thrower and beaulieu are all over 6 feet tall. Thrower is only 6' though.
