Are any of these more or less "locks"?

If they can fit things under the cap this season, I don't see them doing this now. And it does seem like they can fit things in.

Also, no matter how worthless Brad Richards is looking right now, he is the same player today as he always has been. He has definitely not like lost a step or something significant, he is what he is. He has scored in the 60s, without having much of a impact, on non-PO teams in the past too. I don't know how many times I've seen him on struggling teams in Tampa and Dallas and been suprised of how little he actually contributes at times. But then he got absolute fantastic instincts and a really good shot, and if he is put in the right environement the pts start to pile up. His biggest problem in NY is definitely -- without any single doubt -- the lack of a left handed playmaker to play keep aways with on the PP. In Dallas he had Riberio and in Tampa he had Lecav. When BR sets up on the right point in NY he have had to work with Gaborik -- who just really is not good at handling the puck on the PP -- and Nash who is a bit square and can be pressured by the PK. BR is world class at running a PP from the right side of the ice, but nobody can do it alone and in NY as soon as he passes the puck down low along the boards, odds have been great that the PKers manage to pressure Gabby/Nash and clear the puck.

Many in this thread are wishing for their teams to free as much cap space as possible. But reality is that cap space only is of value if you can use it. And there is a great shortage of good players on the market. Odds are huge that you will overpay for whoever you sign to replace the player you just dumped. NYR signed a player with a 6.8m cap hit, but I don't think Slats only will make due with a "6.8m production". The problem is if you get 2m production, like with Redden. If you get 4m production from a 6.8m UFA, that's probably within the range of what is acceptable. And I am still not sold on that we can't get 4m production out of Richards. The key is -- definitely -- to rediscover the PP again in NY.

In the end, things are not looking good at all for BR in NY, many have been down this road before and failed, but I don't see the point in not giving him another season.

I agree.

Flyers should definitely be interested in bringing him back, even if his old buddy Briere will riding the pine himself when it happens.
The Flyers are short on forwards who know how to slow down the play at times, protecting the puck while the attack settles in like Leino does it, which is crucial when your defense struggles in the transition game and many turnovers lead to odd men rushes on the other end.

This is an astute insight. Actually Richards seldom played with Lecavalier in Tampa. He won the Conn Smythe in 2004 mostly playing on a line with Marty St. Louis and Freddie Modin, who are both left handers. Marty won the Art Ross that year and Freddie potted 29 in the regular season.

Brad is one of my favorite players and I have tried to follow his career. My take is that there is something physically not right with him this season. He has had a number of odd ailments over the years as well as the usual pileup of injuries.

Sadly, it seems possible that Richards may be one of those guys who just physically wears out and can't play at a high level. The Rangers have been down that road more than once, giving large contracts to guys nearing the end of the line - most recently with Drury. I hope it doesn't go that way for him.

None of them are being boughtout then Holland would have to admit that he's wrong and that will never happen and besides you can only buyout 2.

I'd say Komisarek is a lock. When guys like Kostka are logging an awful 20+ mins a night for us and a vet let Komi can't get a call up for the playoffs, he won't be playing here again.

Heatley on the Leafs would be so gud...too bad he can't play on a line with a playmaker. Rip.

What does Tampa plan to do with Lee?

Regular buyout, amnesty, bury him in the minors?

He won't be bought out. If he doesn't make the roster next season, he'll be back in the minors.

I think Edmonton main trade bait in the next 2 months will be MPS and there 7th overall pick and I think they could use those two , to upgrade there defense right now.

I don't see Leino getting bought out. He was actually starting to live up to his contract in the 8 games he played this year.

I want to see he can do next year.

i didnt mean all 3, just 2 of the 3

I think KH will have no choice but to buyout a player or two

we all know he dosent know how to make trades and we all know we are over the player limit thus forcing guys to remain in the AHL for too long, if he does absolutely nothing but bring back all our RFAs and Brunner then tatar will still be in the AHL and we will have anywhere between 4-7 million dollars in cap space as nightly scratches

100% guarnteed he will buy out 2 players just like after the last lockout
