Hard fought battle. Mikke Granlund scores the deciding 2-1 with a couple of minutes left in the third period.

I'm not feeling too optimistic after the terrible Latvia game.
This should be a tight game.

I've kinda grown accustomed to 1-2 goal losses against Finland, so I'll be pretty surprised if this one is any different. In the end the result doesn't bother me the most, just please Slovak players don't pull another Vancouver on us.

3-1 Finland. Granlund, Kontiola and Anttila (empty net). Raanta with a huge game.

Hope it's a good one!

it could end like in 2002 in Russia - 3:1 for Slovakia.

I hope for a good, close game, of course with a win for us. I just hope this will not be a terrible performance by our team. We're are like rollercoaster this tournaments, very good performance against USA, good performance against France and Finland, meh against Germany and Austria, terrible against Latvia.

Zaborsky has to show why he was so successful in Finland

It goes to overtime and anything can happen. I say 2-1 for Finns after shootout.

I like our chances if we can play like we did against Russia. If that doesn't happen, Raanta will need to stand on his head for us to get a win.

I love it how last year nobody thought Finland stood a chance to win the USA in the QF. All the merch sellers in Helsinki put their stuff on sale because they were so ****ing sure Finland would lose. Apparently this was based on the 0-5 loss on Mother's Day, which led to a players-only meeting and Jalonen taking a serious look at the game plan. It may have been a small miracle for Finland to have won that game, but the negativity back then was ridiculous regardless.

This year the press seems more than certain Finland's going to win. The point is that you can't know and it's a fact that Finland hardly deserved to win the preliminary round game against Slovakia.

A bit nervous, but if the first line and Raanta play a solid game I'd expect a close win for Finland in regulation. If one or the other has a bit of an off-day I'd expect this to go over 60min.

Granlund still in 3rd line? That makes absolutely no sense. Koskiranta and Granlund should just swap places like they did in middle of the last game.

Good luck Finland! There's no way you're losing this one.

Go Finland!

I assume it will not be as easy as some think, but nevertheless, we should win this. I just hope that they put 110% effort out there, as opposed to the Latvia game.

And I really hope that Mikke is centering the 2nd line.
