Hartikainen is having a nice playoffs.

Hopefully he can step up his game next year - OR can at least up his trade value for a possible move this summer.

It would be great for he, Pitlick and I'd say Marcincin in particular, to get to the finals and even win it all. Great experience for the Sens club in Binghampton a couple of seasons ago.

#OKCBarons will be without Anton Lander tonight in Gm 4 vs. Texas (Barons lead series 2-1). Big loss. Had scored 4-1-5 in 6 playoff games.
so i'm guessing that the exact nature of lander's injury has not been revealed yet? hopefully nothing serious, he was playing very well for the barons in the playoffs (and was getting valuable playing experience in pressure situations)

I just noticed that there is apparently a stream available for tonight's Barons-Stars game.

Neither the Barons or the Marlies are the same team they were last year. There has been a lot of change in the roster. The Barons played the Marlies twice this year and both were close games and OKC are playing very well in the playoffs so far.

I am hoping that both Toronto and OKC win this round. As an Oiler fan in Toronto I would love to see a rematch. There are few pro games I can afford to watch live.

Has Matt Frattin been sent to the Marlies?

If so...I hope they don't end up playing OKC.

Pretty sure it was him who torched the Barons last year.

I don't think that him having to coach a couple of NHLers filling their schedule during a lockout "proves" anything at all.

Nelson is a fantastic coach in my opinion, and the Barons are one of the best coached pro hockey teams I've ever seen. Being consistently good despite turning over 85% of your roster each season is a pretty good indicator. He's already been an assistant coach in the NHL, and he's been a winner at every level he's coached at. I'd imagine he's going to get his shot in the NHL at some point, I hope he does well with it.

Also I was interested in doing this: here's the season point totals for all the AHL teams over the last 3 years. Barons are 3rd in the league and Norfolk swapped out affiliates so they don't really count.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 300
Norfolk Admirals 285
Oklahoma City Barons 281
Milwaukee Admirals 278
Toronto Marlies 277
Charlotte Checkers 274
Houston Aeros 274
Portland Pirates 271
Hershey Bears 269
Providence Bruins 264
Chicago Wolves 263
Manchester Monarchs 262
Lake Erie Monsters 260
Syracuse Crunch 258
Abbotsford Heat 256
Texas Stars 256
Binghamton Senators 253
Connecticut Whale 253
Springfield Falcons 252
Grand Rapids Griffins 251
Rockford IceHogs 251
Peoria Rivermen 248
Rochester Americans 248
San Antonio Rampage 241
Bridgeport Sound Tigers 238
Hamilton Bulldogs 236
Worcester Sharks 233
Adirondack Phantoms 219
Albany Devils 218
St. John's IceCaps 166
Manitoba Moose 93

3-0 Oklahoma after 2 periods.

Rajala with 2 more primary assists
Hartikainen with a goal
Fedun with a goal, both he and Marincin +3 on the night so far

Man, this Rajala kid...from going on a PPG rate during the regular season to over a PPG in the playoffs. Talk about a prospect that's literally forcing himself back into the picture.

He reminds me somewhat of good ol' Tony Salmelainen...not as fast maybe, but more feisty and with better hands. I can't honestly see a scenario next year where he makes the roster, but nonetheless he could make training camp interesting.

Am i cynical because I want Rajala to do really good so he increases his trade value.

Only way I see him have a chance is we trade Gagner + Hemsky. Hed do very good on a eastern team like the Islanders I feel

And with the 5-1 victory, the OKC Barons advance to the Western Conference Finals. After the first two games, I was expecting this to be a very close series where both teams squeak out wins. Wasn't expecting the barrage of scoring from the Barons on the usually stingy Nilstorp.

It's amazing what a good AHL player Harti is. It's just night and day compared to his work in the NHL.

Game slows down 1/2 a step and all of a sudden he can get to the areas he needs to and has that extra second to make the play he can't in the NHL.

I'd be really curious to hear how Davidson and Fedun have played of late and what their roles have been. Hard not to root for them both.

Everybody, from the OKC coaching staff to the media, seems to be raving about Fedun. This doesn't surprise me - he looked terrific during the NHL pre-season in 2011.

This is the case with a lot of players. Some players just can't bridge that gap. For those that are trumpeting his play, how has his physical game been? Has he been hitting much/at all?

If Hartikainen doesn't spend his entire off-season working on his skating in every single dimension, first and foremost, then he deserves to be slapped. We need to be saying "oh wow he got so much faster" in training camp for him to have a chance at being an effective NHLer.

If he ends up getting back to his '11-12 preseason form skating wise maybe he pushes to be our 3rd pairing RHD in camp? He'd probably be a good partner for Fistric if we re-sign him.

Nice!

Oil Kings and Barons have really had a successful couple seasons. Lets hope the Oilers can get a taste soon.

My thoughts exactly. He needs power skating lessons badly. If he was faster he'd be a hell of an NHLer. That has to be his primary focus this offseason.
