If it were the sens doing it id say the same thing, your going to defend a man hitting another man in the groin area in a hockey game?

They were both being idiots and both should have gotten a penalty for their antics.

I just keep hearing about how the key to undermining the Pens is hitting. There were lessons to take from the Islander series, and I am sure that Ottawa, who has a great coach, will take those lessons and use them. But hitting has zero to do with it. Just not the kryptonite for a team built like the Pens are built. But the Islanders did expose how to beat them, and I am certain every team that they play until they are knocked out will employ some of those things.
I agree. However, its one reason why I dont quite think the Sens are the right team. Knowing how to do it is one thing, being able to do it is another. Its been said that the Isles are a fast team, but I really think most people dont realize how good the Isles offense is. Especially once Cappy switched the lines up after game 1... we had 2 VERY legit offensive lines with JT doing the heavy work on the 1st and KO on the 2nd. I also think that our 4th line did some excellent offensive work as well. I am sure there were a couple Pens fans that said, Cizikas has the puck again... wait, who is Casey Cizikas?
Like I said, it is one thing to have the recipe, but you still need the right ingredients. Ottawa does have HUGE advantage in goal though, and that is always a big deal.

Nobody stated that Chris Neil does not fight heavyweights. However, he does pick his spots when he can.

I remember during the 2009-2010 regular season, Chris Neil refused to fight Colton Orr multiple times (when it was a good time to fight). The odd time he picks fights with players who rarely fight (i.g. Mikhail Grabovski, Dennis Seidenberg, and Evander Kane).

I'm not defending it but seeing that he didn't sneak up on someone to punch him in the nuts from behind but it happened while being in a headlock with his opponent trying to punch him in the back of his head, the whole sequence kind of makes me shrug my shoulders. It should have been two minors but none was called. It's the playoffs, move on.

The Isles showed everyone how much MAF sucked...the secret is out.

Senators laid a beating on Montreal and took away their will to win. Will it happy against the infallible Penguins? I don't know, but I do know this, Ottawa has to make the game much more difficult for Penguins and their impact players. If they succeed? Who knows.

But it's gonna happen.

Definitely after Cooke hit Karlsson with his skate in the air.

That's playoff hockey, isn't it? If Crosby wants to stick Neil he is going to pay for it.

Like Spezza won't be crosschecked by Orpik on his first shift....right in the small of the back.

That's the way it goes, and I hope Neil connects better on Friday.

people are still talking about the nut punch which happened like 6 years ago?

then again, people still love to call brooks orpik dirty because he broke erik cole's neck during his rookie season

I don't find it hard at all. They just don't get the emotional reaction out of me that other teams do.

And technically a paper cut could kill you, but under normal circumstances they don't. Likewise, Brooks wasn't using any sort of racial terms that we know of and Neil was the one hitting Orpik in the head in this case.

The point is that there is no reason to fight here. Why would a top defenseman go off for 5 minutes in exchange for a bottom line grinder/agitator. I even like Neil. However, there's absolutely no reason for him to fight there. He should fight him because Neil is giving him a cheap shot? Meh. He just chose to one up him. I definitely don't approve, but, like I said, they were both acting like idiots.

Orpik isn't a "fake" tough guy. In fact, he's very tough. Fighting doesn't make you tough.

Chris Neil picks his spots occasionally.
...and Steve McIntyre went back to flipping burgers after that one game. Yeah, let's fight that guy.

...Which is just as ridiculous as extrapolating that Orpik is a coward for not fighting Neil based on one event.

EDIT - Based on your posts after, it seems like we're pretty much in agreement.

What does your board's reaction have to do with the actual team?
